The South Central Conference is essential most schools from the Class B Region 3 division for girls basketball. In this article we’ll be touching on some of the top performers from last year and how their impact can make their teams more competitive for this years season.
[player_tooltip player_id="99825" first="Jaycee" last="Richter"] - Linton-HMB - (5’6/SG/2022) - Richter has a high motor and plays with a lot of intensity on the court. She averaged 15.1 ppg and 4.7 rpb last season. She might be only 5’6, but plays like she’s 5’10. JayCee is a hard nosed defender and can really disrupt the way other guards play by her aggressive defensive prowess. She was second leading scorer last year in the South Central conference just behind all state selection Madelyn Schmidt.
[player_tooltip player_id="100438" first="Kennedy" last="Harter"] - Kidder County - (6’/PF/2023) - Harter is long and athletic. She’s been shown on a lot of previous articles on her versatility to score the ball. Last season Harter averaged 14 ppg 7.4 rpg and 3.4 steals a game. She fits so nicely within Kidder County’s 2-3 and 2-1-2 zone sitting in the middle of the court clogging up the lane and picking apart sloppy passes from the offense. I expect with the graduation of Hailey Pfaff, Harter plays an even bigger role come this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="219712" first="Mataeya" last="Mathern"] - Edgeley-K-M - (5’10/SG/2024) - Mathern was only a fresman last year, but put up junior worthy numbers. She averaged 10 ppg and 5 rpg. Mathern displayed a quick first step last year in being able to blow by defenders and finish at the rim with a nice polished hop step layup package. She’s long, versatile, aggressive and poised to help EKM blow open the gates to show everyone their a true contender in Region 3.
Teagan Erberle - Napoleon-GS - (5’9/PF/2024) - Erberle helped guide the Imperials to a Regional birth last season. She may be an undersized PF, but don’t let her size fool you. Erberle was the top rebounder in the South Central Conference last season and looks to continue that reign. She averaged 15 ppg and 12.4 rpg. She’s strong and crafty within the post which makes her trouble to guard. She may not be the most versatile player on the court, but she finishes nicely around the rim with either hand.
Emily Jochim - South Border - (5’6/SG/2023) - Jochim was the leading scorer for the mustangs last season and I predict not a lot will change on that end. The mustangs struggle with scoring the ball in certain matches, but Emily was a big boost of help averaging 12.5 ppg and snagging 5.4 rpg. She’s the most flashy player, but and honest blue collar worker that will get the job done. I expect Jochim to be a real leader come this year for the Mustangs and help guide them through the 21-22 season.
