Several key plays in the second half played a role in the home teams success as they look to position themselves in the race for a state championship in March. Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at some of the key players who contributed in this battle of Lenoir vs. Wayne County.
Saniya White-Wooten (Kinston 2024 guard)
Kinston has several promising guards that have a chance to be really good as the season progresses including 2024 guard Saniya White-Wooten. She plays with pace and controls the game well showing a variety of traits that every point guard should have. Wooten takes care of the basketball and puts her teammates in a position to get quality looks every time down the floor.
Jasmine Cogdell (Kinston 2022 forward)
The Vikings are also known to have quality post players at their disposal and unsigned senior Jasmine Cogdell certainly fits that mold. She rebounds at a high level on both glasses and because of that, her team gets second chance looks and the opponent is only held to one shot on the other end. Cogdell was too much for the Warriors to handle in the paint especially in the second half.
Jada Hamilton (Eastern Wayne 2022 guard)
Despite every defense being thrown at her, Jada Hamilton was still able to make an impact for Eastern Wayne. She provides outside shooting and is comfortable handling tough defense whether it’s passing out of a double team or breaking the press. Her play over the first several games is why the Warriors are off to a hot start this season.
