Olivia Tierney Olivia Tierney 5'7" | SF Great Crossing | 2024 State KY – ’24 5’8″/SG – Great Crossing
Tierney is an out-of-zone rebounder who can go get the ball for putbacks including a reverse layup putback she made on game 1 of the tournament. But she can also hit the three as her 43% three-point shooting percentage over the three games and the shots I saw her make from the right wing and deep in the left wing will attest.
She also demonstrated her ability to distribute the ball on a banana-drive from the corner and dish for the assist and other lane penetrating dribbles the drew defenders to set up teammates. Over the course of the tournament, she averaged 7.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
Zoe Thompson – ’24 5’7″/PG – Assumption
Thompson is one of 2 primary ballhandlers for her team and makes excellent passers within the “5 Out” offense especially her pinpoint over the top skip passes along the perimeter. She averaged 11 points, 3 rebounds and shot 41.6% from three, and made 78% of her foul shots.
Moving without the ball she scored a layup on a dive cut to the hoop from the top of the key and in transition she made an elbow jumper and an 18 footer from the wing.
Geriann Ackerman – ’24 5’5″/SG – Assumption
Making 50% of your three-point shots and 100% of your free throws during the tournament is a sure way to end up in this article and that is exactly what Ackermann did while averaging 13.7 points and 4.6 rebounds. She also scored on a layup in transition and scored on another layup through contact and made the following free throw.
Delaney Cooper – ’24 5’11″/PF – Assumption
Cooper shows something different about her game every time I see her play and this time it was her shooting on display. She made 43% of her three-pointer, and 72% free throws but it was her corner 16 footer and elbow jumper that impressed the most.
During the tournament, she averages 14.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.
Makayla Meyer – ’22 6’1″/PF – Holmes
During game 1 of the tournament, Meyer scored 13 points, making 66% from three-point range, and went on to average 8.5 points, 5 rebounds. But she was most impressive for her defense, denying the post feeds from behind with her long reach and blocking 4 shots by my count.
Allie Dillon – ’25 5’10″/SF – Montgomery Co
Dillion scored 10 points and 6 rebounds per game making 35% from the three-point range. during the course of this event.
Jadyn Barret – ’22 6’1″/SF – Holmes
Barret made 75% of her three-pointers, and 72% of her free-throws thanks to a little bit of the shooter’s roll and blocked some shots on her way to averaging 11.5 points and 4 rebounds in the tournament.
Kristen Whited Kristen Whited 5'5" | SG Pikeville | 2024 State KY – ’24 5’5″/SG – Pikeville
Whited is a great shooter but it did not show during the tournament where she only shot 3 of 18 behind the arc and averaged average of 8.3 points per game. But everybody goes through slumps and her team was getting plenty of scoring punch elsewhere. Her solid ballhandling and defense were enough for her team to win the tournament.
