Area Play: Post Players To Watch Part 1

Well, it's that time of year; area play is about to start up, and everyone is making their move for post-season play. I have been watching the following post players beginning to separate themselves from the pack and do what is necessary to get their teams through post-season play. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="320524" first="Naomi" last="Smitherman"] | PF 6-1 | Ramsay. Naomi is the leader of her Lady Rams team, and in her senior year, she is playing very well. Her length and athleticism are huge upsides, she rebounds with force, and if it's on the offensive board, you can count two points. Naomi has that college body prototype for an SF on the next level; not sure what her vertical is, but it has to be high. 2022 [player_tooltip player_id="368773" first="D’Yona" last="Jones"] | PF 6-1 | Hewitt-Trussville  D'Yona has put her team on her back this year for several games.  She had to step up since the Lady Huskies lost their leading scorer to college, and is making her presence seen and felt in the paint. D'Yona can run the floor and score in transition and also protects her basket quite well with those defensive rebou<span style="font-size: 1rem;">nds. D'Yona is also a scholar student in the classroom.</span> 2023 [player_tooltip player_id="324025" first="Alanah" last="Pooler"] | C 6-0 | Hoover. This transfer has come in as a much-needed post player and making a statement with this Lady Buc team. Alanah has a stocky and muscular body, making her a beast in <span style="font-size: 1rem;">the post, and she is quiet with her contribution. If you leave her open in the high post position, Alanah can hit that three with consistency. She is also another one of Alabama athletes that is a product of parents that played collegiately - it's that DNA that we have talked about. Did I mention that she is an outstanding free-throw shooter?</span> 2024 [player_tooltip player_id="323388" first="Tazi" last="Harris"] | C 6-2 | Guntersville. I first saw Tazi play as a freshman and was very impressed and noticed her upside was huge. As a sophomore now, she is making her presence felt on both ends of the court. Tazi is extremely athletic and uses that to block shots and get all the rebounds. Her 6-2 height puts her at an advantage against most opponents and it shows with her ability to block a lot of shots. She is also a very good volleyball player. &nbsp;
