Samantha Davis | North Buncombe | SF
Davis (pictured above) is a versatile player who can handle the post position on the block or set herself up to score from anywhere on the court. She has a nice three point shot that she can put up even when defenders are in her face. She does a great job flashing in and out of the paint using her height to make her a good target. On defense, she times her position well jumping in front of opponents for the steal or blocking shots as they try to drive in the lane.
Sydney Williams | Franklin | C
Williams does a good job clogging the paint making sure opponents struggle to score anywhere near the basket. She can definitely block shots just like a volleyball player and grab the steal. She knows exactly how to push the ball up the court, too, finding her outlet passes with ease and getting up the court herself. Her post moves seal off her opponents for some points, and she crashes the boards to grab rebounds knowing how the ball will bounce off the backboard.
Dayla Whitley | Langtree Charter | SF
Whitley has some good height already making her an asset all over the court. She uses her length to block shots and grab steals. Her quick closeout is deathly on defense being able to come out of nowhere to grab the steal. She isn’t scared to take the ball right out of the hands of her opponent. Her steals can easily turn into points for her as she pushes the ball up the court and isn’t phased by contact as she puts the ball through the hoop.
Taniya Hunter-Smith | Williams | PF
Hunter-Smith has had a strong senior season averaging in the double digits with points showing off her versatility around the rim. Her strength inside makes it easy for her to grab rebounds, and she knows exactly how to push it up the court for a fast break. She uses offensive boards to get some second chance opportunities. She can stretch the floor showing off nice jump shots over her opponents.
Ciarra Sims | Hillside | SF
Sims takes full advantage of opponents in disarray grabbing steals to take the other direction. She is quick in transition hustling back on defense and showing off her ability to block shots. She can power dribble her way to the basket, or she can flash to the hoop off of a nice backdoor cut losing her defender in the process.
Lillian Davis | Mooresville | SF
Davis is a forward who immediately looks to the basket to score. She can shoot from behind the arc, or she can post up from the block. She stays aware of where she is on the court knowing exactly how to move her body and the ball to put it through the hoop. She follows shots to make sure she can grab the rebound, and she is great at extending plays by grabbing offensive rebounds. Her ability to flash in the paint and score on the run is an asset, too.
Aquarius Pettaway | North Pitt | PF
Pettaway is averaging a double-double with points and rebounds for a good team at North Pitt. She uses a lot of power to body her way to the hoop scoring off of her own dribble or making cuts to the basket catching a pass and scoring with ease. She is aggressive going after rebounds. She doesn’t need to be close to the basket to score as she has a nice jump shot she can step back and show off. She certainly knows how to make herself a big target, and something that’s difficult for opponents to miss are her blocks.
