2024s Making An Impact
The season is marching on towards district tournaments in 2 weeks and some players have really emerged over the last few months. Here’s a look at some Sophomores who are making a name for themselves this season.
Claire Johnson Claire Johnson 5'10" | CG McCracken County | 2024 State KY , McCracken County – McCracken is quietly off to a 22-1 start to the season and rolling through the first region. Claire has established herself as an elite shooter as she’s knocking down nearly 50% of her three point attempts while averaging 14 points per game. Johnson is making her claim to be the best 2024 prospect in the first region.
Laken Williams Laken Williams 5'4" | PG Martin County | 2024 State KY , Martin County – Averaging nearly 20 points per game for a Martin County team that is young but is in the thick of the regional title race. Laken is a playmaker who excels at getting to the rim and finishing through contact. She’s also one of the best players in eastern Kentucky at getting to the free throw line and she converts at better than 75% when she gets there.
Ella Morrison Ella Morrison 5'8" | SG South Oldham | 2024 State KY , South Oldham – Morrison struggled a little last year but has come back with a vengeance in her sophomore season. Her shooting numbers are all way up this year and she’s averaging 15 points and 8 rebounds per game as she has become a more well rounded player this year also.
Sara Ritter, Whitefield Academy – Ritter is part of a Whitefield team that is in the process of a multiyear build but probably ahead of schedule at this point. Sara has proven to be a consistent and reliable scoring option on a nightly basis and is capable of checking a lot of boxes on both ends of the court. Watch for Ritter and the Wildcats to continue making strides over the next 3 years.
