This game featured several high level players from across the coastal counties of Eastern North Carolina. Prep Girls Hoops NC takes a look at some key standouts from this contest.
Armani Reid (Southwest Onslow 2023 guard)
It’s been a stellar season for 2023 guard Armani Reid and she’s one of the top scorers in Eastern North Carolina. Reid had 24 points against East Duplin with most of those points coming from the outside where she excels the most. She’s a tough shot maker and also creates well off the dribble for herself and her teammates.
Yamorie Hardison (Southwest Onslow 2024 guard)
Another Southwest Onslow Stallion that’s performed well this season is 2024 Yamorie Hardison. She did most of her work on the interior whether it was finishing in traffic or creating extra possessions with offensive rebounds and hustle plays. Hardison had 11 points for Southwest Onslow in this game and will be a key piece to the puzzle as the state playoffs arrive.
Makya Kornegay (East Duplin 2025 guard)
Another one of the many talented freshman guards in Eastern North Carolina, Makya Kornegay did a great job getting to her spots and getting good looks. She also plays with a ton of energy on the defensive end and has been the primary option for this Panthers team most of the season. Kornegay had 13 points to pace East Duplin and was the teams leading scorer averaging close to 12 points per game in 2022.
