The Glen Burnie Gophers and Old Mill Patriots have been the top two teams in Anne Arundel County all season and they clashed on a Friday night in front of a capacity crowd at Old Mill. The two teams started out slowly and the first quarter ended with Glen Burnie leading 6 to 5. Old Mill went on a strong run to start the third quarter and halfway through they had trimmed Glen Burnie’s lead down to 30-28. The teams traded runs for the rest of the game, taking turns pressing each other and forcing turnovers. Glen Burnie had a late surge that enabled them to leave the gym with a 53-47 win and bragging rights in the county.

Malorie is a playmaker. She is a good ball handler and passer and has a great feel for the game. She knocked down two corner threes for a six point outing, but she also had a number of assists and was crucial in the press break. She can definitely play at the next level.

Amourie had a strong overall game, making big plays on both ends of the court. Her shot was off but she managed to impact the game anyway. She is an exceptional athlete that scores with slashes to the rim and explosive finishes. She has a good handle and good form on her shot. She’s a very intense competitor and her teammates feed off her energy.

Cincear had a solid game finishing with a game high 16 points. She is quick and uses her strong ball handling skills to get into the paint where she is a strong finisher and good playmaker. Her outside shooting was crucial as stretched the floor to give her teammates room to operate.

Amani held it down in the paint as she usually does for Old Mill. She finished with 11 points and 13 rebounds while providing solid interior defense. Glen Burnie’s zone limited her opportunities in the first half but she adjusted and just outworked everyone inside which helped her team rally.
<strong>Jemirah Brown, 2025 Guard, Old Mill </strong>
This was a solid game for Jemirah. She scored 10 points and really sparked her team in the second half. She gave the team some quality minutes at point guard and also battled inside for rebounds. She has deceptive speed and is a very versatile player. Her run down block on a fast break of a speedy guard was a thing of beauty.

Amaya has excellent size and length and provided some strong defense during Old Mill’s second half rally. Her three point play was a big momentum changer for the Patriots in the second half.
