Howard is currently enjoying a 40 game regular season winning streak and are looking to cash in and bring home a state championship in the MPSSAA’s 3A classification. They had previously been in 4A for a number of years but could not quite close the deal. The Lions have a versatile and talented starting five but they are largely untested. They ran through Howard county competition, but they did beat IAAM B conference champions Mercy High rather easily. I am eager to see this team in the 3A playoffs because I think they have a potent offense and excellent team defense which should get them to at least the final four where they will have chance to close the deal.

[player_tooltip player_id="303119" first="Meghan" last="Yarnevich"], 2025, Forward
Meghan is in the runnng for Freshman of the Year because she is a versatile 6'2" forward that can shoot, rebound, pass and facilitate your offense. She is holding Power 5 offers and will rack up quite a few more before it's all done.

Gabby is a Towson University recruit and has had a spectacular season so far. She plays with tremendous pace, makes quick and decisiive moves and is a good finisher in the paint. She has a sweet stroke from behind the three point line and is a strong team defender and rebounder.
Samiya Nasir, 2023, Guard
Samiyah is the catalyst of the Howard defense and the quarterback on offense. She guards the opponent's best player every time out and usually slows them down. She's an exceptional athlete and she uses her speed, balance and footwork to harrass ball handlers and force turnovers. She thrives in Howard's press because she has great instincts and speed.
[player_tooltip player_id="163864" first="Gabrielle" last="Kennerly"], 2023, Guard
I first saw "G2" in the 8th grade and I thought she would be at the top of the 2023 class and maybe a Power 5 recruit. Injuries slowed her momentum but this season she has regained her mojo. Her explosiveness is back and she looks like she can create just about any shot she wants off the dribble. Her perimeter shots are falling and when the strong closeouts come she is attacking off the dribble with success. She has always been a strong rebounding guard, especially on offense, and that has not changed. She is capable of giving the team quality minutes at point guard when necessary but she thrives off the ball.
Jenna Vetter, 2024, Guard
Jenna is a knock down three point shooter that a defense has to account for at all times. She comes up with a lot of steals by playing solid team defense and using her quick hands.
