As the season approaches March, the conference championships have started to roll in. Let’s take a look at some teams that have brought home a title.
<h4>COLUMBIA CENTRAL</h4>
Columbia Central continues to get more dangerous as the season rolls along, and by the way, they won their 4th straight LCAA championship along the way. Elite players like <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147769" first="Tadassa" last="Brown"] </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="357376" first="Zoie" last="Bamm"] </strong>have the ability to take their team very deep into the playoffs.
<h4>DETROIT RENAISSANCE</h4>
Renaissance continued their run by taking the PSL title. It’s their second championship in the last 3 years. They are one of the top defensive programs in the state and feature elite young players in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244275" first="Christian" last="Sanders"] </strong>and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244289" first="Makayla" last="Johnson"]</strong>.
<h4>FRANKENMUTH</h4>
Frankenmuth continued their dominating run, winning the TVC. It’s their 41st title and they’ve won 10 out of the last 14. They even faced adversity this season with Central Michigan commit, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="189279" first="Lexi" last="Boyke"]</strong>, suffering an injury. Players like <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244298" first="Mia" last="McLaughlin"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147726" first="Zoey" last="Persails"]</strong>, and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147788" first="Emma" last="Kerkau"] </strong>showed continued growth in their games, stepped up, and brought home the championship.
<h4>GIBRALTAR CARLSON</h4>
Carlson took home the title in the Downriver League this season. Their leading star and leading scorer <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="281521" first="Emma" last="Shimizu"] </strong>seemed to score at will at times. Players like <strong>Elyse Miller </strong>and <strong>Abby Carafelli </strong>enjoyed excellent seasons and were also critical to the team’s success.
<h4>HUDSONVILLE</h4>
The defending Division 1 state champions have rolled to an OK Red Championship. Stars like <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147720" first="Jaci" last="Tubergen"] </strong>(who recently set the school’s all time scoring mark), <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="188564" first="Maddie" last="Petroelje"]</strong>, and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="147728" first="Alaina" last="Diaz"] </strong>have them primed for another deep post season run this year.
<h4>KENT CITY</h4>
Kent City has rolled to yet another CSAA Silver title. They’re on an epic run that last saw them lose a conference basketball game on January 22 of 2016. Players like superstar lead guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="194461" first="Lexie" last="Bowers"] </strong>and the versatile do-it-all <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244268" first="Madelyn" last="Geers"] </strong>have been lights out for the team this season.
<h4>LAKE FENTON</h4>
Lake Fenton won the Metro League - Stars Division championship. This team is absolutely loaded with talent with <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="178874" first="Kerrigan" last="Howdeshell"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="364996" first="Amaya" last="Smith"]</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="361798" first="Savannah" last="Fellenbaum"]</strong>, and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="189289" first="Makenna" last="Clement"]</strong>.
<h4>LESLIE</h4>
This Leslie team proved to be very special, winning a Greater Lansing Activities Conference title. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="179085" first="Emma" last="Smieska"] </strong>had a superstar senior season, <strong>Dana Coltrain </strong>provided valuable leadsership, and <strong>Alayna Brown </strong>proved to be a dangerous sophomore.
<h4>MORRICE</h4>
Morrice has taken home the championship in the Genesee Area Conference Blue Division. This season’s title makes it back-to-back for the program. Players like break out scorer <strong>Aubrey Rogers </strong>have led the charge.
<h4>PORTLAND ST. PATRICK’S</h4>
The Portland St. Patrick’s squad brought home the Central Michigan Athletics Conference championship. Senior point guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="227594" first="Lydia" last="Meredith"] </strong>led the way with her scoring and ability to create with her floor game.
<h4>SPARTA</h4>
Sparta has won the OK Silver. They were led by impressive players like the steady and efficient <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="244288" first="Makayla" last="Hatchew"] </strong>and <strong>Bella Vallone </strong>who has shown a nice scoring punch this season.
