By Michael Wholey 3/19/22 11:00 AM EST
Hot outside shooting was a common theme throughout the week long competition at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland with a number of teams letting it fly from deep. We take a look at the weeks top 3-point shooters!
[player_tooltip player_id="91649" first="Eleecia" last="Carter"] (Lake Highland Prep)
In two games, Carter went 8/20 from 3, shooting 40% knocking down 5/14 in the championship game and 3/6 in the semi-final matchup. The long, athletic scoring combo guard has a quick release, smooth shooting stroke, and deep range.
[player_tooltip player_id="400805" first="Carmen" last="Jones"] (Ponce De Leon)
Jones was lights out knocking down seven 3-pointers over two games, shooting 50% from 3. Her Ponce De Leon squad needed every single point as they squeaked out a 39-38 win in the 1A Championship game.

Anyone that has seen Quinn play, knows she is a scorer and can drop buckets in bunches. The small but feisty guard went 6/13 in Lakeland across 2 games from the 3-point line shooting 46% from 3. At 5’2, Quinn is a well-rounded offensive scorer, who can not only knock it down from deep off the catch but can do it off the dribble too!
[player_tooltip player_id="243885" first="Jada" last="Eads"] (Wekiva)
Eads has been one of the top 3-point shooters and scorers in the state all year. She was quiet in the semi-final game knocking down ½ but then put up a high volume of shots in the championship game going 5/14 from 3 in the finals vs St. Thomas shooting 6/16 across two games. Eads was a scoring machine all season, averaging over 17 points and knocking down 2+ 3-pointers per game.
[player_tooltip player_id="243908" first="Ciara" last="Hayes"] (Faith Christian)
Hayes shot 45% from 3 over 2 games in Lakeland. Going 3/5 and 2/6 in her two games. The young Freshman is one of the most dynamic scorer in the state and is dangerous with the ball in her hands anywhere on the court.
[player_tooltip player_id="91565" first="Emani" last="Theodule"] (American Heritage Plantation)
Any conversation about the state’s top outside shooters needs to include Theodule. To start the state championship game, Theodule dropped 3 quick 3s breaking the game wide open early in the first quarter leading to her shooting 50% for the week in Lakeland on 5/10 from 3. She has a strong build, quick release, excellent form and is flat out dangerous when left open!

[player_tooltip player_id="217664" first="Lexi" last="Blue"] (Lake Highland Prep)
Blue’s outside shooting felt quiet to me, going 2/4 from 3 in the championship game, while knocking down 3/6 in the semi-finals to shoot 50% in Lakeland. Blue’s long, athletic build with build wing span allows her to get her shot off over the top of defenders even when they are in her face.
[player_tooltip player_id="248320" first="Trinity" last="Turner"] (Dr Phillips)
Turner was without a doubt one of the top performers in Lakeland, leading Dr. Phillips to the 7A state championship, spearing heading a 2nd half comeback. She shot 44% from 3, knocking down 2/4 in the finals and 2/5 in the semi-finals on her way to averaging over 20 points per game in Lakeland. Her ability to knock down the 3, makes her near impossible to guard as she can stroke it from deep, pull up from mid-range, cross you up off the bounce and finish at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id="91641" first="Karina" last="Gordon"] (St. Thomas Aquinas)
Gordon shot 45% from 3 in Lakeland, helping lead her St. Thomas squad to a 6A championship. The 5’7 Junior guard displayed her versality and scoring ability knocking down 2/5 from 3 in the finals and 2/4 from 3 in the semi’s. The combination of her ability to make the open 3, attack off the dribble and finish at the rim combined with her athleticism makes her hard to stop!
[player_tooltip player_id="217666" first="Briana" last="Rivera"] (Lake Highland Prep)
Without a doubt Rivera is one of the most deadly and dangerous shooters in the state of Florida and potentially in the country. She has a super smooth stroke, deep deep range, a quick release and can knock it down off the catch and off the bounce. In Lakeland she went 4/12 from 3, which was a bit quiet from for her in comparison to her all season. She made over three 3-point field goals per game during the season knocking down an impressive 96/222 from 3 for 43% on the season.

[player_tooltip player_id="221843" first="Samantha" last="Vales"] (Miami Christian)
Vales was solid all week in Lakeland, showcasing her well rounded skill set, knocking down 4/10 from 3 across 2 games. She was 2/4 in the finals and 2/6 in the semi-finals helping lead Miami Christian to a 2A state championship with her stellar play and solid outside shooting. Her strong base, allows her to shot it several feet from behind the 3-point line with little time to get it off, making her a dangerous threat every time she touches it!
