With our latest rankings update for 2024, we had a lot of movement throughout the class and are up to 90 ranked players in the Sophomore class. Here’s a look at the top new names in this update.
Destiny Jones Destiny Jones 5'11" | PF Central | 2024 State KY , Central – Destiny comes busting into our rankings after a big season full of double doubles and showing the sort of potential that coaches covet. She’s a throwback player in the sense that she didn’t even attempt a three pointer this season but she’s among the best players in the state in terms of field goal percentage. Look for her stock to continue trending up over the next 2 years.
Claire Johnson Claire Johnson 5'10" | CG McCracken County | 2024 State KY , McCracken County – McCracken was one of the best teams in Kentucky this season and Claire staked her claim as one of the best players in Western Kentucky with a strong Sophomore season. She established herself as a top flight shooter with splits of 53-41-76 and continues to improve as an all around player and not just an offensive threat.
Anna Rodgers Anna Rodgers 5'11" | SG Bullitt East | 2024 State KY , Bullitt East – Bullitt East is reaching the point where they don’t rebuild, they just reload. Rodgers looks like one of the next wave for the back to back 6th Region champs. She averaged 7 points per game this season and is likely to double that next year as there will be a lot more shots to go around after graduation. She’s a good shooter and has a knack for being in the right place at the right time for the Lady Chargers.
Julia Hunt Julia Hunt 6'1" | C Holy Cross (Covington) | 2024 State KY , Holy Cross (Covington) – Hunt ended her season as one of the best and most consistent post players in the 9th region as she could be counted on for a double double every night out. She can score with her back to the basket or facing up and she is an active rebounder on both ends of the court. Julia doesn’t get a ton of help but she could get some college interest this summer on the AAU circuit.
Jada Hughes Jada Hughes 5'9" | SG Bullitt East | 2024 State KY , Bullitt East – Much of what was said about Anna above can apply for Jada as well. They figure to be the go to scorers for Bullitt East as Juniors and make a formidable combination that should cause problems for 6th region foes the next two years. Hughes is more of a volume scorer than Rodgers but if she can become a more reliable shooter from deep, her scoring numbers will shoot through the roof.
