Kennedy Hight Kennedy Hight 5'7" | PG Perry | 2024 State OK 2024 5’7 Perry High School, OK (Team Griffin Elite 2024 Owens)
Kennedy is a high level scorer of the basketball who can dance on the perimeter and knock down shots when she is quickly swung the ball. She quickly sets her feet and is always ready to catch and shoot and punish the defense from the outside. I was very impressed with her ability to hit timely three pointers out of the corners and wings in the clutch. She hit shot after shot to put her teams lead just out of reach down the stretch of the first game she played today and it was all due to the impact she had on both ends of the floor.
She is a stout defender who is good at using her long arms and length to reject shots at the rim and make her opponent feel her presence every time down the court. She came away with some impressive chase down blocks that really tuned the tide for her team down the stretch of the close game they played. She is an active rebounder every single time a shot goes up, she consistently finds opponents to box out and ensures they do not have a chance at a rebound of any sort.
Brooklyn Hurtado 2024 6’0 Cisco High School, TX (Texas Platinum 2024 Bruce)
Brooklyn is a strong forward with a bunch of high level moves in her bag in the post. She bullied her defenders deep into the paint and simply turned around and shot over them. She displayed some tough spin moves with her back to the basket as well. She is a consistent finisher with her back to the basket who is good at using her size to finish over and through defenders and contact. She is good on the offensive glass, she sealed her opponents from ever having a chance of jumping with her and making a play on the ball.
I was very impressed with her ability to play big on both ends of the floor. She protected the rim and used her size to make her opponents uncomfortable for even stepping foot in the lane. She always slid over at the right time to turn away shots or simply make the opponent second guess her decision to go up with it.
Hailey Kuhlman Hailey Kuhlman 5'9" | PF Luther | 2024 State OK 2024 5’10 Luther High School, OK (Oklahoma Aces 2024 Vick)
Hailey is a high level player who showed a strong post presence and consistency in the paint, but also an ability to handle the ball and shoot from the perimeter. I was very impressed with her ability to play out of the pick and pop or make the right decision to roll hard to the basket for an easy look. She stretched the floor from the midrange and beyond the arc. She also displayed a great handle and on court vision when she has the ball in her hands. She made good entry passes into the paint and found cutting teammates with consistency. She made hard passes that slipped right through the defense and accurately found her teammates time after time down the court.
On the defensive side, she looks like she has all the tools to develop into a very skilled wing player at the next level. She showed an ability to quickly move her feet on the perimeter to defend guards, but also work in the paint and defend bigger opponents. I would like to see her continue to work on all aspects of her game, as she has a bunch of valuable tools and basketball IQ in her game already.
Taylor Spencer 2024 5’7 Cleveland High School, TX (Houston Lady Nets 2024)
Taylor is a skilled combo guard who is able to play off the ball, while also affecting the game on the defensive end of the court. She is great on the defensive side of the ball, where she takes pride in picking apart her opponents with her intense on ball defense. Her aggressiveness on that end of the floor allowed her to come up with takeaways and run on the fast break. In the full court, she is good at getting to the rim and using her end to end speed to beat her opponents to the rim. She really stood out through her ability to read and steal passes in the passing lane and finishing in the paint on the other end.
Za’Kenya Thompson 2024 5’6 Spring High School, TX (Houston Lady Nets 2024)
Za’Kenya is a skilled guard who sees the floor well and can initiate offense for her teammates. I was very impressed with her confidence with a live dribble and ability to turn the corner and get out of traps in the full court. She was good at keeping her head up and stepping through the small gaps that were left in the trap, she calmly squeezed through just as the defense got there and kept her head up to deliver an accurate pass down the court. She has the ability to put soft touch on her passes in the full court to effortlessly find her teammates in stride. I was very impressed with her ability to play out of the pick and roll as well, she constantly made the right decisions and even pulled up from beyond the arc when given enough space.
