Keep in mind I’ll be mixing a lot of action up from other states so just stay tuned, much more is coming
Reese Brittain (Seguin HS) Competitive Edge 2023 [2023]
Brittain always finds a way to play GREAT yet observing her poise under pressure always makes me smile. She’s heady, plays within herself, and understands how to control the tempo yet she also sets her teammates up nicely as her court vision is equally impressive as she threads the needle with ease yet she can score both off the dribble as well as dropping the jumper, mid to long-range and her ability to ” catch and shoot” accurately definitely stood out
Niyah Waters Niyah Waters 5'11" | SG Hendrickson | 2025 State TX (Hendrickson HS) Competitive Edge 2023 [2025]
Waters has turned it up yet again and after coming off a more than a solid season for one of the state’s top high school squads, the sky is definitely the limit. She’s thinking the game more, I watched her lead teammates with passes on the break as well as hit the trailer on the money but peep this, she can flat out take over a game offensively with the blink of an eye. She’s long and athletic, she elevates on her jumper and her range is becoming unlimited yet her body control on her finishes makes her a “highlight waiting to happen”
Aniyah Sanford Aniyah Sanford 5'5" | PG Langham Creek | 2023 State TX (Langham Creek HS) Houston United 2023 [2023]
Sanford is one of the top PGs in her class and shows time and time again that #sizedontmatter when you can play. I don’t what I enjoy watching the most, her ability to run a team and direct traffic, her ability to see the floor, or her ability to score both off the dribble or dropping the jumper from wherever she wants. I guess I enjoy all of that because I’ve watched her since elementary school keep adding to her toolbox yet for me not to mention I enjoy watching her elevate over taller players wouldn’t be right
Shalayne Morgan Shalayne Morgan 5'9" | CG North Shore | 2023 State TX (North Shore HS) Houston United 2023 [2023]
Morgan is one of those “never takes a play off” type of player and her diving on the floor for loose balls put her on my radar in the 6th grade when her club team back then hadn’t turned a roster yet I got up and found out who she was because I knew what was coming. You can’t teach certain things, desire is definitely one of them and her fire on defense can change the momentum with a blink of an eye. Her first step is smooth, she finishes acrobatically, after contact but watching her create the mid to long-range is nice as well so when you add “on the ball” defense …
Kayanna Cox- HG Elite 2023 S40 [2024]
Cox creates her shot well under pressure, love her explosiveness off the dribble, that definitely creates problems because she can finish using body control as well as after contact but she also has options other than attacking the rim hard. Her pull up jumper is smooth and consistent so the defense has to respect that as well
Tatum West- HG Elite 2023 S40 [2023]
West had me looking north, south, and east as well because watching her perform magic inside the paint had me going. She’s added more agility and her athleticism is even better yet her “hands and footwork” deserves that #THROWBACK hashtag, in fact, double that after her “drop step” a lost art that isn’t being used or taught and it should be. She rebounded strongly on both ends, and showed good timing on defense to block, alter and (or) deflect shots but at 6’2 with a nice wingspan …
