The talk of college basketball is the transfer portal with over 1,000 women’s basketball players in the transfer portal with plans to change colleges. And while the transfer portal is very popular in the college game, the conversation on the travel ball circuit is that the original transfer portal started with summer ball teams. With the spring/summer travel ball season kicked off, we take a look at some members of the class of 2025 that are suiting up for new teams.
Jade Jones Jade Jones 5'11" | SF King's Academy | 2025 State FL (Wellington Wolves to Miami Suns)
Jade had an excellent season with King’s Academy and has long been a member of the Wellington Wolves squads. She made the move to the Miami Suns suiting up for their 16U EYBL squad Team Larkins, performing well at their opening event in the Sunshine State Showdown.
McKenzie Neal McKenzie Neal 6'2" | C Okeechobee HS | 2025 NY (Okeechobee Nation to East Coast United)
Neal has often played with many of her middle school and high school teammates but made the switch over to East Coast United and played with the East Coast United Family 2025 squad this weekend. The 6’2 Forward/Center is one of the top front court prospects in the state.
Nyla McFadden Nyla McFadden 5'11" | SF St. Thomas Aquinas | 2025 State FL (GT Queens to Essence)
McFadden helped lead St. Thomas Aquinas to a state championship as a freshman, showcasing her exceptional length and athleticism. The young freshman guard makes the move from the GT Queens to Essence 16U EYBL Silver / Wheeler Kids squad.
Pink Sturdivant Pink Sturdivant 5'8" | CG Clearwater HS | 2025 State FL (FGB to Hoop Dreams Elite)
Pinky was part of a young, talented Clearwater squad. She makes the move from FGB to Hoop Dreams Elite. The young, freshman guard is a skilled offensive player who can drop buckets and is at her best in the open court.
Alessandra Bonilla Alessandra Bonilla 5'7" | SG Monsignor Edward Pace | 2025 State FL (Miami Impact to Miami Suns)
Bonilla has suited it up for a couple teams in South Florida but joins the Suns Team Kiki 15U EYBL squad after playing with Miami Impact last year. Bonilla is a big guard, who can knock it down from outside and put it to the floor. She has a scorers mentality and has a great size for a guard at her age.
Sophia Kateris Sophia Kateris 5'11" | SF The King's Academy - West Palm Beach | 2025 State FL (Joins Miami Suns)
Kateris put up big numbers for King’s Academy this year as a freshman and joins the talented Miami Suns Gold squad and will play up two years in the 17U division. Her young guard is one of the state’s top outside shooters and will help the Suns spread the floor.
Ailani Collazo Ailani Collazo 5'7" | SG Apex Friendship | 2025 NC (Team Florida to Always 100)
Collazo will suit it up for Always 100 Elite 2025 after her Team Florida squad merged with Always 100. The big, young freshman guard is a skilled scorer who sees the floor well and uses her size to get her shot off, see over the opposing teams defense, and finish at the rim.
Maddie O’Berski Maddie O’Berski 5'7" | SF Evangelical Christian School | 2025 State FL (Joins SWFL Trinity)
O’Berski is tucked down in the Southwest corner of Florida and had a tremendous Freshman season under her HS coach Dwayne Donnell at Evangelical Christian School. The young guard is a bit of an unknown on the exposure circuit but will be a name college coaches will become familiar with pretty quickly!
