Continue ReadingThe Carolina Border Clash really brought out some young talent this weekend in Florence. Let’s take a look at Top Performers we were able to see today from the Palmetto State in each class from 2024-2029. Yes, 2029 – current 5th graders playing in the event. I really didn’t expect that today but, no way was I go to leave this young lady out. South Carolina Girls Basketball is in good hands in the years to come. Very exciting times here in the Palmetto State.
2029 Top Performer – Madeline Dates Madeline Dates 5'6" | PG Sedgefield M.S. / Goose Creek | 2029 SC – Marrington Elementary (Goose Creek) – Lowcountry Premier Ballers 12U
Madelyn is in just the 5th grade playing up an age group for her team. Dates is the younger sister of Elijah Dates (Goose Creek). Madelyn is extremely vocal for her age and really seems to pick up things quite well on the floor. Madelyn didn’t backdown from anyone today with her play and determination. I’m excited to see her grow up and come up the ranks.
2028 Top Performer – Treasure Davis Treasure Davis 5'5" | PG Dillon M.S. / Dillon | 2028 SC – Dillon M.S. (Dillon) – Upward Stars Pee Dee 2027
Davis plays up an age group for the Upward Stars organization. Treasure is truly a treasure on the floor to watch. She exploded for 27 points in the opening game today and 19 points in her second game of the day. Treasure did all while attacking the basket it seemed and very few jump shots. She plays the game with a great bit of confidence and has few problems getting by defenders on the way to the cup.
2027 Top Performer – Amani McCray Amani McCray 5'7" | SF Berkeley | 2027 State SC – Berkeley M.S. (Moncks Corner) – Palmetto Stampede 2026
Amani played varsity basketball this season for the Lady Stags at Berkeley HS. McCray moves really well around the floor and always remains active on both ends. She has a good skill set for her age and motor already. Amani will rebound the ball on both ends of the floor while doing a great job of rebounding it outside of her area.
2026 Top Performer – Aiyanna Moses Aiyanna Moses 5'2" | PG Goose Creek | 2026 State SC – Sedgefield M.S. (Goose Creek) – Palmetto Stampede 2026
Moses a point guard saw good time this past season for the Lady Gators at Goose Creek HS. Aiyanna plays the game with a fearless mindset at times. She was able to get the ball into the paint and gaps when she wasn’t stalking the baseline at times. Aiyanna does a good job of swarming the ball on the defensive end of the floor.
2025 Top Performer – Kayla Wilmore Kayla Wilmore 5'6" | SF Nation Ford | 2025 State SC – Nation Ford HS (Fort Mill) – FBC Queen City Ballers 15U (pictured on front)
Kayla came up big scoring the ball inside-out today on the floor. Wilmore was able to connect on some perimeter jumpers when she wasn’t scoring the ball in transition. She constantly played around the ball all day long picking up opportunities to score the ball. Kayla dropped 17 points in a victory over EA Lady Stars 2024.
2024 Top Performer – Rickell Brown Rickell Brown 5'7" | SG Sumter | 2024 State SC – Sumter HS – Sumter Elite 2024
Brown is best suited off the ball in the backcourt. Rickell can spread the defense with her ability to knockdown shots out on the perimeter. She does a good job of receiving the ball in the pocket and being shot ready. Rickell has a nice quick shot release from downtown.
