South Dakota 2023 Rankings – AA Prospects (Part 1)

AA basketball in South Dakota is the most competitive and has the most parity out of all the classes. The class also brings a mass of talent to the table. If you see the floor as a AA athlete, you’re doing something right. Here is a list of 2023 AA prospects I wanted to mention when working on the South Dakota 2023 rankings. Mentioning the skills or traits that most standout. <span style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">[player_tooltip player_id="100490" first="Kayleigh" last="Hybertson"] </span><strong style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">- 5’10 F 2023 - Harrisburg - </strong><span style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">Kayleigh is a hard-working interior prospect and starter for Harrisburg. She plays bigger than she is at her listed 5’10 height. Can finish off glass over size in the paint. Her effort and consistency in that department is noticeable.</span> <span style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">[player_tooltip player_id="425254" first="Isabelle" last="Ellwein"] </span><strong style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">- 5’8 G/F 2023 - Huron - </strong><span style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">Isabelle is a long 5’8, that looks like she could be in the 5’10 range with solid length. Plays hard and attentive. Her defensive awareness of where the ball is and her matchup is impressive. A prospect that gives energy to her team, making her an asset to the Huron squad.</span> [player_tooltip player_id="100484" first="Remington" last="Price"] <strong>- 5’6 G 2023 - Pierre - </strong>Remington is a true basketball player and has the shot and skills to show. A spot-up three-point machine and she can counter that with a pump-fake into a pull-up jumper. These two facts make her a tough defensive assignment for the opposing team. [player_tooltip player_id="100495" first="Taylor" last="Giblin"] <strong>- 5’6 G 2023 - Mitchell - </strong>Taylor is a true off-guard/shooting guard that does her damage from three-point range. She can still handle the ball well enough and can take care of the ball via pass. Moves well without the ball and is in constant motion. A composed  guard that plays her role as a starter and shot-maker. [player_tooltip player_id="188448" first="Kendall" last="Paulson"] <strong>- 5’7 G/F 2023 - Watertown - </strong>Kendall is a great jumper, runner, and mover on the court. Sprints the floor without pause. Another prospect with defensive awareness and attentiveness. Understands and plays team defense. She’ll handle her matchup until help is necessary. [player_tooltip player_id="246273" first="Maddy" last="Rohde"] <strong>- 5’6 PG 2023 - Watertown - </strong>Maddy is possibly one of the most underrated prospect in the state. Handles and passes the ball at a high level. That aspect immediately stands out. She has a confidence about her with the ball in her hands. A super-quick player that will move at that pace with and without the ball. [player_tooltip player_id="405174" first="Wicahpi" last="Cuny"] <strong>- 5’9 G/Wing 2023 - Rapid City Central - </strong>Cuny, who is shown in the feature image, is an immediate bench player that comes in the game and contributes, with length and effort. Gives solid effort on the defensive side of the ball. Will move offensively and attack the boards. Ability to hit open threes.
