While I wish I could’ve caught more teams and more games, I did my best to catch as much I could throughout the two and a half-day span. Let’s look at some of the players that caught my eye at this event.
Kate Baker Kate Baker 5'4" | PG Frederick Douglass | 2025 State KY | 5’4″ | Combo Guard | Class of 2025 | Bluegrass Girls Basketball
Baker’s scoring ability was really shining in the games I got to watch. She was taking great shots, making strong drives, and she was scoring from everywhere on the court. Her game is smooth and she just looks like a natural out there. She’s a playmaker and a competitor. Baker also has excellent hands on the defensive end and she does a good job crashing the boards. She finds the gap when a rebound comes off the rim and beats everyone else to it.
Jenna Sparks | 6’2″ | Post | Class of 2024 | Arctic Rush 2024
Sparks obviously has great height and length, but it doesn’t stop there. I mean she definitely does an excellent job blocking shots and grabbing rebounds, but she can also knock down shots and she throws some great passes in the half-court set. She has good court vision and she was making some really good passes in transition as well. Sparks can finish inside or step out to the mid-range where she looks just as comfortable. She has a good shot and as far as high school ball goes, she should be a huge addition to Pikeville’s extremely talented squad.
Camryn Poole Camryn Poole 5'7" | PG Whitefield Academy | 2023 State KY | 5’7″ | Point Guard | Class of 2023 | KY ICE Select 2023
Poole is really a solid overall player. She did an excellent job running the offense for her team, making smart passes and delivering those passes perfectly. She was staying composed and not letting anything rattle her, even when she was really being pressured hard as a ball handler. Poole made excellent cuts and really utilized her shot fakes effectively. She made some great drives to the basket and she wasn’t afraid of taking the contact. I was really impressed by how well she rebounded as well.
Cameryn Ridderikhoff | 5’9″ | Wing | Class of 2025 | Richmond Heat 2025
Ridderikhoff has a knack for putting the ball in the basket. The lefty has a really nice stroke and deep range from 3. She finds the openings and her teammates do an excellent job getting her the ball on the perimeter. She can also drive and finish in the paint or at the rim. Her floaters, mid-range, and layups are all effective around the basket. Ridderikhoff was drawing a lot of fouls and getting to the line to give herself even more scoring opportunities. Additionally, she came up with a lot of rebounds and handled the ball really well with her off-hand.
Trinity Balog Trinity Balog 5'7" | SG Parkersburg | 2024 State WV | 5’6″ | Shooting Guard | Class of 2024 | 740 Thunder 2024/25
Balog is a very strong and versatile player. She can bring the ball up the court or she can play off of the ball. She handles the ball well and finds ways to put the ball in the basket. She made some excellent drives and she can finish in a variety of ways around the rim. Balog’s shot and ball fakes were utilized effectively and at the right times. When help stepped over, she did a good job of kicking to the open player. She also did a great job on the boards.
