After a hard fought battle in the 1st 3 quarters of play, they went on to secure the victory after defeating the Seniors 31-11 in the 4th. They scored 106 total points and 11 different players put at least 4 points on the board. They also forced 36 turnovers. As we continue reflecting on the game, here are some additional players that really stood out on Saturday.
Kensley Feltner Kensley Feltner 5'9" | SF Lawrence County | 2023 State KY | Lawrence County | Kentucky Premier 17U EYBL
Feltner is absolutely fearless out there. She’s strong, she’s aggressive, and she just plays her game. She was doing a great job defending inside, no matter who she was tasked with guarding. Feltner also did a great job of taking contact on the offensive end, finishing tough shots through that contact or getting to the line. She has an excellent variety of moves and the ability to stretch the defense with her shooting abilities. She also does a great job of drawing help and kicking to the open player.
Timberlynn Yeast Timberlynn Yeast 5'8" | SF Mercer County | 2023 State KY | Mercer County | WV Thunder 17U GUAA
I’m not sure Yeast knows how good she truly is, but she’s so skilled. Her defense is always impressive. She has great quickness and athleticism. She can come up with multiple steals, blocks, deflections, and rebounds in any given game. However, Yeast also has a lot of offensive tools. She wasn’t hitting and still managed to put up double digit points. She is a very versatile player with the ability to play and defend multiple positions. She can handle the ball, she can distribute, and she runs the floor. She also can shift her body around the basket to hit tough shots.
A few other players worth mentioning are 3 players that put up ridiculous stats in limited minutes of play: Jakayla Thompson Jakayla Thompson 5'9" | CG DuPont Manual | 2023 State KY , Ma’kiya West Ma’kiya West 5'11" | SF Louisville Male | 2023 State KY , and Noelle Hubert Noelle Hubert 5'11" | SG Notre Dame | 2023 State KY .
Jakayla Thompson Jakayla Thompson 5'9" | CG DuPont Manual | 2023 State KY (pictured) was able to grab 5 steals in 10 minutes of play. As if that wasn’t enough, she also managed to get 3 rebounds, an assist, and a block in that time period. Thompson’s recruiting has been really heating up lately and it’s easy to see why after Saturday.
Ma’kiya West Ma’kiya West 5'11" | SF Louisville Male | 2023 State KY actually led her team in rebounds, grabbing 8 boards in 12 minutes of play. She also added 4 points and an assist. West always plays so hard when she’s out there and she truly does a great job of doing all of the little things that require effort. She made some great saves and was able to secure a lot of her rebounds from her hustle alone.
Noelle Hubert Noelle Hubert 5'11" | SG Notre Dame | 2023 State KY barely missed double-digits, scoring 9 points along with grabbing 4 steals and 2 rebounds in 10 minutes of play. Hubert was lighting it up from downtown and knocked down 3 triples, tied for the most by any player in the game. Her defense was impressive, using her length to come up with steal after steal after steal.
