If it was a regular-season game, that game would have produced a big-time matchup: the Blocton sisters versus Clare Coyle Clare Coyle 6'1" | PF Bishop Kenny | 2024 State FL (Bishop Kenny, PGH #21) and Sydney Roundtree Sydney Roundtree 6'0" | PF Bishop Kenny | 2024 State FL The only thing missing was a bag of buttered popcorn. In this article, we look at some of the forwards who brought skill and power to the games last week.
Nia Blocton Nia Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2024 State FL F/C (Ridgeview 2024, PGH # 26) (pictured above) Blocton played very well in week one of the summer league and showed a lot of versatility in her game. She has a mixture of power and speed and is a force in the middle of the offense and the defense. Blocton was blocking shots, taking the ball away from the opponents out in space, and scoring in transition. Blocton crashes the boards with a vengeance and is special on the offensive glass. Blocton is looking for a huge live period.
Sydney Roundtree Sydney Roundtree 6'0" | PF Bishop Kenny | 2024 State FL F (Bishop Kenny 2024, PGH #14) Roundtree’s defense was more noticeable during the matchup. Roundtree has the ability to defend in space and can also defend in the paint. In transition Roundtree is special. She ran the floor well on both ends and made some athletic plays on both ends of the court. Roundtree has received several college offers, and she will be a player to watch and follow during the college live period.
Nacoya Blocton Nacoya Blocton 6'0" | PF Ridgeview | 2025 State FL F (Ridgeview 2025, PGH #68) really played well during week one, and the versatility in her game really sets her apart. For a power forward, she ran the floor extremely well, showed a lot of quickness, and naturally showed power in her game. Blocton does a good job of rebounding the ball and she is relentless on the offensive glass. She is a prototype stretch four who plays well in the paint and can stretch the defense with her shooting ability behind the arc. Blocton can also put the ball down. She had the move of the night when she faked right, drove left, and finished with a reverse right-handed layup. Blocton is one of the best stretch-fours on the First Coast. She is primed for a special season and a shakeup in the PGH rankings.
Mychaela Parker Mychaela Parker 6'2" | C Orange Park | 2024 State FL C (Orange Park 2024, PGH #86) showed some improvement and looked like she could be a major contributor this upcoming season. Parker played with a lot of power and drew a lot of fouls. She found herself at the free-throw line throughout the game. Drawing fouls has been a big part of Parker’s game and she can have a big year if she knocks down her free throws this upcoming season. Parker does a good job on the boards and especially on the offensive end.
Alanna Kennedy (Orange Park 2024) looked good in the low post. Kennedy made some nice moves in the paint and showed some nice footwork. She was impressive putting the ball on the floor and driving to the goal. She also was impressive on the board and had some nice putbacks for scores. Kennedy looks like she could give the Lady Raiders a consistent scorer down low.
Georgia Avret F/C (Bolles 2023) Avret did a good job of scoring on the inside and also occasionally shooting the mid-range jumper. Avret is aggressive on the defensive end and hits the boards hard on both ends. She will be one of the few Seniors on the Bulldogs next year and will be called upon to provide leadership for a very young team.
