West Michigan Shootout: Player Preview

The West Michigan Shootout tips off on Friday June 10 at Byron Center High School. It’s a tournament format event with the first round games starting at 3PM. The second round is scheduled to start at 4:50PM with the third round following at 6:40PM. <h3>THE MATCHUPS</h3> Kent City vs. Benton Harbor Howell vs. Wyoming East Kentwood vs. Mason County Central Muskegon Reeths-Puffer vs. Kalamazoo Central <h3>PLAYERS TO WATCH</h3> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="194461" first="Lexie" last="Bowers"] (2023, PG, Kent City)</strong> Bowers is one of the best 3 point shooters in the state. That’s definitely not all there is to her game though, as she’s a solid ball handler and excellent decision maker. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="189309" first="Kynnedy" last="Brown"] (2023, SF, Kalamazoo Central)</strong> Brown could be poised to have a huge senior season. She could be one of the better scoring wings in the state. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="230785" first="Molly" last="Deurloo"] (2023, PG, Howell)</strong> Deurloo is coming off a really good spring grassroots season and looks to continue her run. She’s shown the ability to play on and off the ball and she cuts hard to the rim after the pass. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="415923" first="Desrae" last="Kyles"] (2023, PF, Benton Harbor)</strong> Kyles is one of the most skilled post players in her class. She will be a regular double-double threat basically every night come next high school season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="280223" first="Jaevyn" last="Montgomery"] (2023, SF, East Kentwood)</strong> Montgomery is full of skill and upside, combining excellent athleticism and basketball skills. She could go off on any given night. <strong>Wren Nelson (2024, C, Mason County Central)</strong> Nelson is a tall and long center that coaches and the next level will want to see. She rebounds with her length and earns high percentage looks at the rim. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="362293" first="Aaliyah" last="Ratliff"] (2023, SG, Wyoming)</strong> Ratliff is a scorer at heart and brings tough esd and athleticism to her Wyoming team. Ratliff will be critical to her high scho team’s success next season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="189296" first="Ariel" last="Walker"] (2023, SG, Muskegon Reeths-Puffer)</strong> Walker is a sometimes underrated guard that has a quick first step on the offensive end. She’s a solid 2 way player that can defend other quality guards.
