Audrey Biggs Audrey Biggs 6'0" | SF Boyd County | 2024 State KY 6’0″ Boyd County Weat Virginia Thunder
Biggs is a multi-talented player that can impact the game in nearly every way. She has the handles to beat you off the dribble and navigate through pressure and great passing skills to hit open teammates for an easy score. She can be an outside shooter but from what I’ve seen she is most likely to attack the basket for layups and short jump shots than to float around the perimeter.
She has great size and athleticism for the next level at her position with the ability to play up or down a position on the roster. This is a player that can create for herself and her teammates. So you want to put the ball into her hands on multiple possessions. But Biggs also moves excellently without the ball and can be a threat to score off the ball or by crashing the glass as well.
Allison Spieker Allison Spieker 5'8" | SG Whitefield Academy | 2024 State KY 5’8″ Whitfield Academy Kentucky Ice
I am a little surprised to see Spieker in this category because I see her as more of a Shooting Guard but she does have many of the skills needed to be in the category. These include her ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, or to shoot the floater. She definitely defends well against all types of perimeter players.
She is smart and uses her knowledge of the game to set herself up for success with good footwork on both sides of the ball. She knows when she has developed an advantage and will exploit it for points or to force a foul. She often seems to get better as the game goes on and I suspect that she is learning all game long how she needs to arrack whatever the opponent has been throwing at her.
Annabelle Babb Annabelle Babb 5'7" | SF Meade County | 2024 State KY 5’5″ Meade County Team Firstep
Babb has good straight-ahead speed and hustles on every defensive possesion. She is a good finisher at the basket, crashes the boards and will go to the floor for losse balls. She can shoot the short, mid-range and three-point jumpers when open and drives hard to the hole to score. She is perhaps a bit undersied for her position on the next level but there is alot to recommend about her game. She is built strong and has a the will to win games that is so valuable. This is certainly the kind of player you want on your side in a tough game.
Miyah Wimzie Miyah Wimzie 5'10" | SF Holy Cross (Covington) | 2024 State KY 5’10″ Holy Cross (Covington)
I first saw Wimzie play at last year’s Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo wearing a huge knee brace and then in three games at the All “A” Classic where she carried her team in the 2nd Half of their loss to eventual Champions Owen County. She is another well-rounded player with good ballhandling skills and a nose for the basket. A solid rebounder, passer and defender, Wimzie has a strong base that she uses to control her zone under the boards and to legally body up to opponents on defense.
She doesn’t appear to be quick-footed but she makes up for that with long defensive slides and strides. Don’t intrepret that wrong. Maybe I just can’t think of a better way to say it. She has no speed troubles in keeping up woth or outpacing opponents. She is not slow. But for some reason some players do not appear to move quickly, yet they do have speed. I have no idea why that is, but she is one of those players. If you don’t watch long enough you can get a false impression. Watch the extra few minutes if you don’t agree at first. And if you can explain this strange phenomona to me, pleae do.
