Before I start, I want to be transparent and say that I only caught 1 game for each team, so I could’ve caught some players worst game and some players best game. For teams 3, 4, 11, and 12, I saw them play significantly less as the last 2 games of the day were 12 minute halves (running clock with no halftime) versus the 1st 4 games that were 20 minute halves. So, all of these factors definitely played a role into who I’m going to discuss in these quick hitters, but I will get into more detail throughout this week. Some of these groups were extremely tough to pick only 3 players from because there were so many players deserving of recognition out there.
Team 10
Daniels is poised to have a big junior year at CAL this upcoming season. She has great length and athleticism, and she uses those skills to be a phenomenal defender. She can slide her feet to stay in front, she can block shots, and she comes up with multiple steals/deflections. Daniels offensive skills were also on full display Saturday. She made multiple strong drives to the hoop and she was finishing tough shots. She also was knocking down jump shots and playing with a lot of energy.
Barrett was the definition of toughness on Saturday. I’ve never seen a player go from having to leave the game because she has blood running down her head to immediately coming back in and scoring 5 straight points, but that is exactly what Barrett did. She was scoring in a variety of ways throughout the game. She knocked down 3’s, hit jump shots in the mid-range, and she finished floaters and layups. Barrett was giving 110% on the defensive end as well.

Bryant was really impressive on Saturday and some of it had nothing to do with her skills. Despite being on randomly assembled teams, Bryant showed a lot of leadership. She was vocal from the start of the game to the end. However, she showed off her talent on the court as well. She was handling the ball really well and making great decisions. Her passes were strong and she delivered them perfectly. Bryant also showed her ability to score inside or out. She was finishing with contact inside and knocking down shots outside.

Burden has a good, strong frame and she showed Saturday that she’s a true 2 way player. Defensively, she was doing a great job of getting herself in the right help positions. She also was reading the offense so well and came up with multiple steals and deflections. Burden showed a ton of offensive strengths. She was making great drives and she finished in a variety of ways – floaters, layups, and jump shots. She even finished through contact and was making really smart decisions.

Lane was finishing so strong on Saturday and I was really impressed by her ability to finish with both hands. She only just began her freshman year, but she showed a lot of advanced skills. Lane was making great drives, finishing floaters, and taking good shots. She also showed that she can handle the ball with pressure. Defensively, she was reading the passing lanes and crashing the boards.
