One of the better pure scorers in the Senior class, Barrett went up 20 spots from 51st to 31st in the final update. Averaging 21 and 8 per game with 43/33/72 splits to cap off her stellar career.

In the first game of the season she dropped 30 points helping her team get the win over Bourbon County 61-45. She then put up 20 points in the second game against Nicholas County. But Barrett wasn’t done yet, she finished the week with a 29 point outburst in a win against East Carter. In just 3 games into the season she has surpassed 2,000 career points, becoming the all-time leading scorer at Bath County High School. The Lady Cats are now 3-0 to begin the season.

Barrett was exceptional on the offensive end of the floor. She scored in every possible way which continuously made it extremely hard for the defense to get stops. She handles the ball well, handles contact well, and can make plays for her teammates. She can pull-up off the dribble or get all the way to the rim. She can knock down outside shots with a player running at her. Got stops defensively as well. Just really solid all-around.

Barrett is already a 1st Team All-Region player and will certainly be one of the leading returners in the region next season, so she would be another potential candidate from this region. She is such a solid player who can play any guard position effectively.

2022-23 Season Stats: 19.9 PPG, 6.2 RPG, 42% FG (overall), 21% 3pt FG, 76.3% FT

Barrett is one of the best shooters in her class, but she’s also a talented scorer overall. She can score at all 3 levels and she’s a high volume scorer. She can get her shot off quickly off of the dribble or the catch. She moves well without the ball and works to get herself open. Barrett can also handle the ball well and is a solid defender and passer. She’s a very talented player overall. She was her team’s leading scorer and rebounder this past season (19.9 PPG/6.2 RPG) and is poised to have a big AAU season.

Ashtyn moves up from 24 to 13 in this update and can continue climbing the list if she can improve her three point shooting efficiency. In high school games, Barrett is often double teamed so her numbers take a hit. This upcoming AAU season should allow her more offensive freedom without being hounded by opposing defenses. Look for her college stock to continue trending up!

Barrett recently surpassed the 1,500 point mark and if you’ve watched her play, that should come as no surprise as she is an extremely versatile scorer. However, she actually has hit more than one milestone this season as she also grabbed her 500th career rebound a couple of weeks ago. She’s averaging 19.2 PPG and 6.7 RPG, leading her team in both categories despite being a guard. However, that really illustrates the kind of player she is. Barrett is going to give 110% when she’s on the floor.

Barrett is such a tough player and she can really put the ball in the basket at all 3 levels. She is one of the more crafty finishers I’ve seen. She can finish so well around the basket, even through contact or with a defender on her hip. She can also stop and pop or finish floaters inside of the perimeter. Barrett can knock down shots from deep range as well. It doesn’t take much time or space for her to get her shot off and she can create great looks herself. She has a strong step back jumper and she stays ready to pull the trigger. Defensively, Barrett works hard and can come up with steals or blocks in any given game. She does a great job on the boards as well.

Barrett was the definition of toughness on Saturday. I’ve never seen a player go from having to leave the game because she has blood running down her head to immediately coming back in and scoring 5 straight points, but that is exactly what Barrett did. She was scoring in a variety of ways throughout the game. She knocked down 3’s, hit jump shots in the mid-range, and she finished floaters and layups. Barrett was giving 110% on the defensive end as well.
