However, this conference’s statistical leaders were mostly the seniors from last season, so there is bound turnover. Now is a perfect time to look at some of the younger talents in the North Iowa Cedar-West conference.
Morgan Neuroth Morgan Neuroth 5'6" | PG East Marshall | 2024 State IA
The East Marshall Mustangs ended last season winless in conference play. However, Neuroth showed plenty of ability in her sophomore season. While taking a prominent role in the Mustangs’ offense, Neuroth showed she could handle the volume and attention of opposing defenses. The 5-foot-6 point guard routinely found ways to get open looks and made a fair amount of her shots from behind the 3-point line. Neuroth has a compact and repeatable shot, which has helped her be consistent all season. She’s shown her talent in a situation where it’d be easy to quit, and she’s stepped up to the challenge.
Brynn Smith
The rising senior is a talented multi-sport athlete who had a solid season last year at AGWSR. Smith is laterally quick and does an excellent job defending on the perimeter and creating live ball turnovers, turning those turnovers into academic transition opportunities. Even though she mainly guards kids on the outside, she rebounds her position well, grabbing over three rebounds per game. She is a glue player who will help her team win games based on the little things she does for her team.
Hailey Rosonke
The South Hardin Tiger was one of the focal points of the Tigers’ offense last season. I think she did a good job handling the pressure that comes with being the focal point of a team. She’s still getting used to the game at this level, but she has shown that she is someone defenses have to respect. Rosonke did a fine job creating turnovers and helping her team get simple points in transition instead of having to attack a set defense. I believe she’ll take a significant step and be more comfortable in her role.
Alli Sheldahl
The South Hardin Tiger had a solid freshman season. She may be undersized for a forward at 5-foot-9, but she played big last season. Sheldhal led her team in rebounding with six rebounds per contest and scored well in the paint for an undersized freshman. She should continue developing this season and possibly help her team make a slight jump in the standings.
