AAU basketball has received a ton of negative press over the years for a variety of reasons, but the biggest reason is that fundamentals aren't taught. The [program_tooltip program_id='715753' first='Michigan' last='Mystics'] is trying to break this mindset with their every Sunday Queen of the Court. Close to 100 girls from Grades 8 to 12 went through a series of drills aimed at improving footwork, shooting, screening, and defense. There were six stations, but I chose to post up at the 3 v 3 station and got to see some kids showcase their skills.

[player_tooltip player_id='423692' first='Alena' last='Blumberg'] | Dexter | 2025

Elena is a very good cutter and got to open spots with ease. Her driving ability also led to her getting to scoring spots with high frequency. I loved that she leads with her shoulder and seeks out the contact. While she didn't make use of it a ton, her jump shot has textbook form.

[player_tooltip player_id='995699' first='Allison' last='Zelinko'] | Mt. Pleasant | 2026

This smaller guard plays like a kid six inches taller. She blocked shots and shut down post entries. Her helpside defense was spot on, and she made the right reads on offense, which led to hard nosed drives.

Lakyn Karr | 2024

The Mt. Pleasant kid showed explosiveness on both sides of the ball. She was a stronger driver, and she went after the ball handler with controlled aggression. She kept everything in front of her and rebounded out of space.

TR Repichowski | Lansing Catholic | 2024

This kid can shoot. I didn't see her miss many shots, and she took a lot of threes. Despite guarding bigger players, she holds her position well and used her quickness to get to them first. She was one of the better undersized rebounders at QotC.

Brook Wells | Flushing | 2025

Brook had a great day offensively. She hit her shots in the midrange and from deep. She showcased high level screens and used them well. I was most impressed with her passing, which is something I haven't seen from her previously.

[player_tooltip player_id='361798' first='Savannah' last='Fellenbaum'] | Lake Fenton | 2024

While there were a lot of kids at the camp, I might pick Savannah as the player I'd pick first for my team. This kid is a leader. She communicated in drill more than all the other players put together. She gets what is going on and tries to make sure others do as well. Plus she is a great defender and recovers well. She put up huge numbers in high school last year and should again this year on a stacked Lake Fenton team.

[player_tooltip player_id='409313' first='Clare' last='Conzelmann'] | Frankenmuth | 2025

The Frankenmuth product showcased a silky smooth floater and used her body to shield the shot block on her drives. It was business as usual for Clare: high energy and full stat sheet.
