Eighty percent of the participants at the Select 50 were guards and there were some really good ones in the building. In this article we hilight some of the 2023 guards who stood out.

[player_tooltip plaer_id='331754' first='Paris' last='Allen'] / 5'3 PG / Deltona

Allen walked away with some hardware and deservedly so. Allen was a standout at PGH 250 with good offense and great defense. At Select 50, Allen had it cooking on the offensive end. Quickness is Allen's calling card and she really got down hill at this event. She also finished with some floaters, mid-range jumpers and layups. Some layups were finished through contact. Allen also hit a few shots from the outside, showing she can score from any level on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='286834' first='Aaniyah' last='Allen'] / 5'5' PG / Elbert County / GA

Allen was really impressive at the Select 50 Showcase. There were tons of guards in the building, and Allen is right at the top of the list. She is a very silky smooth player who plays with a lot of confidence and lets the game come to her. Allen can score from any level on the court. She does a good job of running in the transition game and can finish through contact. As a junior she averaged over 16 points per game.

Christina Collins / 5'7 CG / Lakeview - Fort Oglethorpe / GA

If there was one thing that showed in Collin's game, it was versatility. She had the ability to score on the inside and the outside. Most of her inside shots came in the uptempo game and in transition. She had the ball in her hands a lot in transition and was crafty and fast enough to get by the defender. On the inside, she converted some very difficult shots. Collins was also "money" from behind the three point line.

Dalyce Sanders / 5'7 SG / Marbury / AL

Sanders was efficient all day long from behind the arc. Sanders doesn't show much emotion, but she is a bonafide sniper on the court. She shot it well from all over the court and was very efficient behind the three point line. Sanders was selected as one of the top guards at the event.

Makala Hobdy / 5'5 CG / Charles Henderson HS / AL

Hobdy was one of the most skilled ball players on the court and she can really handle the basketball. She plays very good defense and plays the passing lanes. Hobdy is a player who makes the right basketball play. She is fast with the ball in her hands. She took a few balls coast to coast for the layup, and there was no catching her from behind. Hobdy can also shoot it from behind the arc. She is a three level scorer. There were times the fleet footed Hobby drew double teams and she dished to an open teammate. Hobdy is a selfless basketball player who makes the correct basketball play on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='440940' first='Jada' last='Williams'] / 5'5 CG / Lake Oconee Academy / GA

Williams was one of the best guards in the building and she was a player who played on both ends of the court. She is another player who plays with lots of confidence and doesn't force the issue. She lets the game come to her. She shot the ball well from all levels of the court. Williams was also very good on defense. She is a good on-ball defender and also plays well in the passing lanes. She recorded several steals on the day.

Eighty percent of the participants at the Select 50 were guards and there were some really good ones in the building. In this article we hilight some of the 2023 guards who stood out.
