Texas Top 250 Expo- 2023 Guards

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Check out my analysis from a LOADED Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo in Dallas this last weekend! These ladies were on FIRE and some are really going to make some noise during their upcoming senior campaign! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='509659' first='Asia' last='Bright'] </strong>2023 5'0 Hillcrest High School</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Asia might have been the smallest prospect in the gym, but she showed hustle and fight to defend both on and off the ball. She knows how to use her size and agility to get under her opponent's skin, poking the ball free and coming in from the weak side to strip her unsuspecting opponents. With the ball in her hands, she acts like a true point guard pushing the tempo on the fast break for easy opportunities, but more importantly finding her teammates with timely passes within a half court setting. She knows what to do off the ball, cutting to attract an extra defender and clearing a lane for a teammate, or running the baseline spotting up in the corners. She is a high level scorer from the corners and the wing positions always being ready to catch and shoot. She is not just a spot up shooter however, she showed an ability to put the ball on the floor and take what the defense gives her, whether that is a driving lane to the basket or space for her to stop on a dime and take the mid-range jumper. She works extremely well next to a pass first point guard, allowing her to play off the ball and have success. She moves her feet well to stay in front of her opponent, and slides in front of them to cut off angles. She came up with numerous steals by sliding in front of them and ripping the ball, but also playing the passing lanes and thinking one step ahead of her opponent. Hill has good hands to catch opposing passes, or passes from her teammates that might be too high. She was able to quickly snatch the ball out of the air, put it on the floor and force her opponent to react. She made good decisions in the open court finding her teammates when they had space, and smartly maneuvering away from double teams. I would like to see her work on picking and choosing when she gets aggressive to try to reach, a few times she was caught out of position, but her motor and ability to move her feet allowed her to recover. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='509666' first='Ivory' last='Scott'] </strong>2023 5'6 Waco High School</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:acf/evaluation-block {"id":"block_63361c59c0019","name":"acf/evaluation-block","data":{"player_evaluations_0_player":["509666"],"_player_evaluations_0_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_0_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_0_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":1,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"align":"","mode":"preview","anchor":"acf-block-64bdf5c71560d"} /--> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ivory is an aggressive guard in general, attacking ball handlers in search of a loose ball, but also hunting for her shot across all three levels of the floor. She showed an ability to play on and off the ball as well. I was impressed watching her patiently wait for space to open up, quickly attack it and demand the ball to be swung to her in time. It was almost as if she had drawn it up with her teammates in the huddle the way she came off of screens and other off ball action. However she is a real threat to score off the bounce, even with a hand in her face. She confidently shoots the ball with good mechanics every time down, and is a real threat to get into the lane and throw up a soft floater over a bigger defender. Her constant attack of the rim, blended well with her ability to score from the perimeter and really showed off her complete game. She is a dual sport athlete as well, succeeding in volleyball as well for her high school team! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
