At the highest level they are slashers that can get to the basket against virtually any defender. Her are some of the top wing players seen over the weekend.
Gabrielle Kennerly l 5-10 l Howard l 2023
Gabrielle is lacing up with the Blue Angels during the fall league and shows that she is versatile enough to excel in different settings outside of her high school and normal AAU team. This should make her fit in great with whichever college she decides to attend. She is quicker than she appears to be just watching her walking around. She has an explosive first step and a beautiful looking shot.
Highlights
Bailey Harris Bailey Harris 5’10” | CG St. Mary’s | 2026 State MD l 5-11 l Annapolis l 2026
Bailey has the type of games younger players should watch and mimic, the thing is she is a younger player. She is entering her freshman year and in multiple games she has looked like the best player on the court full of upper classmen. Her game is refined a pure and she has the ability to dominate without forcing the action. I’m really looking forward to see how far her skill takes her as she is on an all-American level now.
Kimmya Hicks Kimmya Hicks 5’9″ | CG St. Frances Academy | 2023 State MD l 5-10 l St. Frances Academy l 2023
In previous years we’ve seen Kimmya spending a lot of time at the point guard so it goes to reason that she’d be an accomplished ball handler at the wing. She has good size and is an absolute beast in transition slicing her way through the defense. She draws contact and makes her free throws.
Kendi Caldwell
Kendi Caldwell
Kendi Caldwell l 5-7 l Atholton l 2024
Kendi has track star type speed and a frame to match. Baseline to baseline she is one of the fastest players on the court. She able to translate that speed when she attacks allowing her to get by her initial defender, if there is no help defense she gets easy paths to the basket.
Ava McKennie Ava McKennie 6’2″ | SF McDonogh | 2024 State MD l 6-2 l McDonogh School l 2024
Ava is an elite level wing that has every tool in her box that you desire from a wing. She laced up with the Blue Angels as some of her high school teammates did as well. I didn’t see her at every game but when she is on the court she is noticed immediately. She is one of the top players in the class nationally and can score in a variety of ways.
Yanniah Boyd Yanniah Boyd 5’11” | SF Riverdale Baptist School | 2023 State MD l 5-10 l Riverdale Baptist School l 2023
Yanniah makes the game look easy. She smiles and looks like she is having a lot of fun, which having her sister on the team with you can have that affect. She looks so nice and friendly but don’t be fool if you have to guard her you have to be ready for everything. Yanniah attacks and has some creative finishes especially with the reverse that often has defenders jumping too early for the block. She isn’t shy about dripping her shoulder in for contact and just when you feel that you have adjusted to her speed she drops a three-pointer on you. Her levels make her tough to figure out and guard.
