The Blue Devil led her team with 10.3 points per game and shot 48% from the 3-point line a season ago. Shannon has an exceptional feel for the game and understands her strengths and weaknesses. When she gets the ball, she knows how much space is needed to get her shot off, and she can create some separation with one dribble, which makes her more than a catch-and-shoot kid.

Kids who know how to space in transition get rewarded, and when you can knock down open jumpers, you’ll find yourself shooting 44% from the 3-point line to end the season. Kurt’s spatial awareness extends to slower-paced offensive possessions. Whenever North Linn sees a 2-3 zone, Kurt does an excellent job finding the weak spot of that zone in the perimeter. In games where the Lynx may be struggling offensively, having someone who can consistently knock down perimeter jumpers to extend or end a run is pivotal throughout a season.
Yazmeen Whitsitt Yazmeen Whitsitt 5'8" | PG Decorah | 2024 State IA
The Viking backcourt was one of the most productive duos in the state a season ago. The younger of the Viking duo, Whitsitt, plays with an aura of calm, whereas her backcourt partner plays more unpredictably. Whitsitt is the perfect kid to play as a secondary decision-maker, and she excelled at that as a sophomore. She shot 44% from the 3-point line with volume and broke recovering defenses down well when she decided to attack off the dribble. Her style of play on the offensive end helps maximize what her team can do on that end of the floor.
Kirstin Hauck
The Waukee guard was one of the more intriguing combo guards in the state. She is an accomplished playmaker who takes care of the ball and is comfortable both on and off the ball. However, her shooting is what lands her in this article. Being a 40% shooter from the 3-point line isn’t easy, and her ability to be an efficient option for others shows how valuable she is to the Warriors. Versatility is one of the more important abilities in basketball and Hauck has it.
