Part 1 of this series featured some of the 2027 players that were key for their high school varsity squads last season. This article will include some additional players that contributed at the Varsity level last season, as well as some others that are ready to make an impact this upcoming season.
Note: We do not have a class of 2027 database yet, so if any of the player information below is incorrect, please message me on Twitter (@alyxwhite_) or email me at alyxwhitegraphics@gmail.com so I can get it updated.
Jaelee Knowles
Jaelee Knowles
Knowles’ potential is out of this world. She has excellent length and is so athletic. She is a true 2-way player with the ability to block or alter shots on the defensive end of the floor and the ability to score at all 3 levels on the offensive end. Knowles can handle the ball well and she does a good job of weaving through traffic without allowing the defense to get their hands on the ball. She has good floor vision and can deliver really solid passes to her teammates. Knowles can really put the ball in the basket herself as well. She can knock down 3s, score in the mid-range, or make strong drives to the hoop.

Mills does a little bit of everything when she steps on the floor, even the stuff that often goes unnoticed. She fights for rebounds, she goes after 50/50 balls, and she makes hustle plays. Defensively, she can defend the ball and she can get out in the passing lanes to come up with steals. Offensively, she has good court vision and awareness. Mills can get the ball to her teammates through traffic and she does a great job of leading them in transition. She can also score herself and she makes great adjustments around the rim to get better looks. Mills can finish through contact and should make an impact on South Laurel’s Varsity squad this season.
Logue is an intriguing prospect for Walton Verona. She isn’t the kind of player that feels like she has to go as soon as she catches the ball, which is something you see a lot from young players, but rather, she catches in triple threat and sees how she can make a play. If she sees space, she can get her shot off with her quick release and she knocks down shots consistently and with good range. If she sees an open player, she delivers passes well. If she can drive, she utilizes fakes and jab steps well to get a step on her defender. Logue also runs the floor well and can handle the ball. With Walton Verona graduating their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th leading scorers from last season, I expect Logue will be a player that makes up for some of that production. (While I cannot yet edit her profile to show 2027, I can confirm that she is a class of 2027 prospect rather than 2026).
Highlights
D’Myah Williams
D’Myah Williams
Williams already has the length and height for the next level, but her skills also set her apart. She has some of the best ball handling skills that I’ve seen from a 2027, and she has a ton of speed to go along with those skills. Williams is a versatile player. She can guard any position and she’s a lockdown defender. However, her scoring ability is also undeniable. She can finish through contact around the rim or knock down shots further out. Williams averaged 1.2 ppg and 2.2 rpg as a 7th grader. Holy Cross graduated their 2nd leading scorer, who also happened to be their 3rd leading rebounder, so Williams can definitely help fill some of those voids this season.
Braffet is tough as nails and I was really impressed by her skills when I saw her play this past Spring. She’s got good size and strength, plus she consistently makes stuff happen when she’s on the court. She can shoot, she can drive, and she can finish in the mid-range. She also can handle the ball and she’s a team player. Braffet is an excellent defender. She gets stops and comes up with steals consistently. The way she crashes the boards with a purpose is always impressive as well. Braffet plays for a Whitefield team that has quite a few really talented upperclassman, but when they need a solid option off of the bench, Braffet can certainly be a reliable sub, even as an 8th grader.
Benningfield has such a solid skillset. I watched her compete against players much older than her at the PGH Top 250 event and she was more than holding her own. She looked poised and in control on the floor. Her ball handling skills are strong and she has excellent speed. She changes tempos well and keeps the defense guessing. Benningfield has a great shot and a quick release on that shot. She also can get to the rim where she finishes well with both hands. Her versatility cannot be taught and her ability to play inside or out definitely really sets her apart. (While I cannot yet edit her profile to show 2027, I can confirm that she is a class of 2027 prospect rather than 2026).
Elaine Purvis
Elaine Purvis
Purvis started for Montgomery County as a 7th grader and averaged 5.3 ppg and 2.5 rpg. She is a solid shooter, ball handler, passer, and rebounder. She can shoot the ball from deep range and she doesn’t need much space to get her shot off. If you give her even a little bit of room, she recognizes that and pulls. Purvis is able to weave through traffic and get into the paint as well. She finishes well on both sides of the rim and she uses both sides of the floor. Purvis crashes the boards well, especially for a guard, and is certainly a player to watch for this season.
