Below are a group of uncommitted upperclassmen who can bring needs to a program.
(Rankings adjustment on December 1st)
Simplicity gets the job done, and thats Palmers game. She has a semi-quick trigger with a great follow through (always leaves it up) and is able to knockdown shots from the mid to the three. She can attack the basket and finish with both hands. Leah is for sure to make some noise this season.
Versatile, forceful and agile. Gilbertson is stat box filler and impacts the game at every angle. She can attack off the dribble, defend the post and perimeter, while also having the motor to crash the boards on both sides. A on ball/off ball type of forward who can fill multiple positions.
Brooke Wahlund
Brooke Wahlund
Brooke has strong sense and feel for the game. Her scoring ability is three levels, but its her drive and distribute game that stands out the most to me. She attacks to get others open, and usually her passes end up being the best possible shot a team could get. Open floor passes, and throw aheads are usually pin point. Strong ball handler, playmaker and defender.
A paint/post presence that a program needs. Winters has all the skills of a classic post. She has strong footwork on the block, and her awareness on the PNR is high as well. She can guard the perimeter when needed, or stay low and outwork her matchup. She gives 100% effort, with tons of phyiscality on each possession.
Highlights
This year Brooke is showing that can she carry the scoring load for her team, while also being a key playmaker. Strong with the ball in her hands, resilient on the drive, and a defensive mindset that is locked in from buzzer to buzzer. She’s added some tempo to her game as well, the improvement is clear.
Aggressive on the drive.. and thats off a handoff or off the dribble. Gehrt has tons of gears she can switch into when being guarded, which is a lot to handle. She makes quick decisions, and gets to where she needs to off 1-3 moves. She’s able to finish around the rim with both hands and knockdown the long ball.
Highlights
At all levels Viki puts pressure on the defense with her constant creativity and aggresion. She’s the perfect combo guard for a fast paced system. She can shoot the long ball in transition, attack the paint to finish or create, or simply run the show in the open court. She plays with a good tempo and can make her mark by facilitating or scoring in bunches. Her attitude towards defense has been increased this year as well.
A versatile player who can play inside outside depending on what the situation needs. She has the low post strength and agility to impact the game from the paint, and the outside shooting confidence to make open shots and take big ones. Defensively she can guard the perimeters and smaller bigs due to her strength. Epps can be the enforcer on the team as well.
Highlights
Khamille Jackson
Khamille Jackson
Khamille’s presence in the post is felt right away. She runs the floor with a purpose and can play block to block or elbow to elbow with great energy. She has great mobility that causes the same amount of disruption on both sides of the ball. A classic back-to-the-basket post, with a quick 1-3 go-to moves that gets the job done.
Her skillset is advanced, and she’s been putting a show since the start of this season. Off the dribble, catch and shoot or whatever type of bucket you need.. she’ll get it done. Defensively, she’s locked in as well. Good amount of length with tons of discipline. The potential and IQ are off the charts. Madison continues to turn heads and i don’t see that changing anytime soon.
Highlights
Easily one of the best players and shooters in the state regardless of position or class.. and taking the crown as the first Illinois High School PLAYER with a NIL deal (Shoot-A-Way) .. Walton is marksman from the arc, and has the craftiness and confidence to score on whoever. Top division colleges need to tune in, because the deep range ability will translate seamlessly at the next level.
The frame speaks for itself.. Adams is good for a double double on every night. Though she’s been playing the game for a short amount of time.. Sereniti is a going to be problem. Her improvement should speak to the hardwork she’s clearly putting in. Adams is strong and puts quick moves around the rim (drop steps, and quick hook shots), & when you mix that with her wide range of agility and versatility.. her upside is scary. She’s physically built for next level play.
A top scorer in her class.. and Ormsby fluid release is the main reason for that. On both sides of the court she shows high IQ and awareness. She moves well without the ball and puts pressure on the defense from tip off. She can excel in any type of situation that she’s placed in, wether its with the ball in her hand or not.. her skillset is adaptable.
Highlights
Efficient and highly effective. Gehrke can score the ball from all angles or utilize her high high IQ to make plays when necessary. She’s a trustworthy and strong ball handler.. who also moves smooth and intentional without the ball as well. A deep three point maker as well. She will succeed in any type of system that she’s placed in.
