Today, I want to highlight kids I like going into the new high school season. I'll start with some kids in the 2023 class. Each of these kids has different skill sets, but they all can contribute to winning in a significant way.

When watching Bockenstedt go to work with her back to the basket, I love how many moves she has to create space from her defender. The Marion forward has the size and length to get her shot off without much room, so it's encouraging to see that she's a kid that doesn't rest on what she already has and works to make herself a better player. She can create shots in the halfcourt and score challenging baskets when her team needs points.

The Des Moines North Product is a versatile forward who can dominate on both ends of the floor at any given time. Her instincts are one of my favorite attributes about her game. Puot is one of the best shot blockers in Iowa, partially because of her length but also because her timing is outstanding. Whenever I've seen her play, she rarely fouls, and if she doesn't get a piece of the ball, she alters the shot. Puot can also score from all three levels on the offensive end, making her one of the most intriguing forwards in the 2023 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='63010' first='Aaliyah' last='Beier']

The lefty is one of the best threats behind the 3-point line around. Beier has confidence in her game that is palpable. Seeing her play over the summer, whenever the ball got reversed to her defenses seemed to panic and ran out aggressively because she either beat them from the 3-point line already, or they believed every shot was going through the rim. Confidence isn't a tangible thing you can measure, but Beier has all the confidence you'd need.

The Benton guard isn't going to blow people away with her athleticism, but she is a kid who always seems to succeed. She does an excellent job moving people's balance with her dribble. Twedt also can pick apart every different kind of pick-and-roll defense. Her shot is a plus, and teams have to respect it but giving her a path to the rim is also something Twedt will take advantage of going forward. The now senior is a kid who can pick apart defenses for an entire game regardless of how the defensive five line up.
