. Bockenstedt is a 6’0 power forward who played the 3-5 positions on the high school floor but will mostly stay to the forward positions on the college floor. Her skill speaks for itself. She has fantastic footwork in the post and near the hoop with the ability to use either hand to get her team a bucket. Coming into her senior season the only thing she wasn’t great at was shooting the ball from deep but that all changed after some off-season work. She came back this year with the ability to score at will in the post while also being able to shoot and spread the floor on a consistent basis, something that was big for her overall game. I’m not sure how she is going to be used on the college floor but this program is getting another player that has basketball IQ, size, and some real talent. Everything that a college coach looks for in a player today honestly.

‘s game has been impressive to say the least over the past few seasons, inching her closer and closer to the top of her class. Going into her senior year she moves into the #26 spot in our rankings after being just outside of the top 50 a season ago. Bockenstedt, the crafty forward and William Jewell women’s basketball commit, caused havoc all summer on her Iowa Prep AAU team. Playing all around the paint she showed off how versatile her game is by using a spin move going either way, finishing over either shoulder, or pulling it out for a knock down jump shot when the defender didn’t contest. In the offseason she has really worked on her jump shot so that she can expand her game and role more on the floor. I can really see it starting to pay off. When I saw her play this summer at Nike TOC she was 4/4 from behind the three point line in 2 games while dominating down low the rest of the time. She will return once more this winter with some other big names seniors for one more opportunity to make it to state and play for a championship.

Bockenstedt returns to Marion High School for her senior year ready to make her mark following a solid junior season. Leading the Wolves with 40 blocks and shooting 44% from the field last season she returns to show she is much more than just a defensive stopper who can score down low. With her length, mixed with her athleticism and basketball knowledge, the William Jewell College basketball commit is poised to be a problem for any team the Wolves face this season. Following her junior high school season Ella has been consistently working on improving her outside game to become a more complete player. After watching her play AAU this summer I can say that it is definitely paying off. It will be fun to see where Ella can take her Marion High School team in 4a this upcoming season.
