Four South Sound players to watch

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When you think of South Sound girls basketball, you have to think about Tumwater and the success that they have had in recent years. They graduated a lot of talent from a year ago but return a couple players that are among the best in the South Sound. North Thurston has a sophomore point guard with some serious game. Olympia has a true post player who is tough on the block. She is an outstanding ball handling point guard. She is lightning quick and gets by the defense at will. Behind the back, between the legs, she uses any number of dribbling skills to get herself free. She is a downhill player. She also gets to the free throw line a lot because of her outstanding quickness. She isn't a great shooter yet, but she's only a sophomore and that should improve. She did connect on 35 % of her threes, which is a decent percentage for three. She has cat quick hands on defense and averaged nearly 5 steals per game, which is unheard of. She also led the team with 17 points a game. Lots of skill, lots of potential for the sophomore point guard. She has been a big part of it. She can shoot it and has a nice touch, hitting 40% from beyond the arc. She is the leading returning scorer at 13.4ppg last season to go along with 4.5 rebounds a contest. She is athletic enough to get her own shots and plays smart without the ball. She rebounds and plays defense. She averaged over 2 steals per game. She has a motor that doesn't quit and is always playing hard. She is a good ball handler. She had a lot of weapons to get the ball to last year and she seemed to have a great understanding of when and who should get it. High basketball IQ player. She didn't shoot much last year (3.4ppg) because she didn't need to with all the other weapons. She should pick up her scoring this year as one of the returning players with the most experience. She goes right at the defense to get fouled or easy baskets in the paint. There aren't many girls who match up strength wise in the post and she uses that to her advantage. She gets after rebounds and plays hard. She will even step out and hit the jumper from time to time but she makes her living on the block. She averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds a game last season.
