Wilkins had a monster 8th grade season last year before transferring to CAL but she has not slowed down since enrolling and suiting up for Christian Academy. Averaging over 21 points per game for one of the best teams in the city, Brianna is a slasher who attacks the paint relentlessly but can also knock down a three if left open. She is going to score A LOT of points before graduation.
Yeast was already in line for a bigger role this season at Mercer and that was before her older sister suffered a season ending ACL tear. The younger Yeast is a big time shooter who continues to improve as a slasher as she gets stronger and more comfortable absorbing contact in the paint.
James is a true combo guard in the sense that she can hurt opposing defenses with the ball in her hands or playing off the ball. Ashlinn is a scrappy defender who can really apply pressure to opposing guards and make them uncomfortable. She’s likely to transition to being a true point guard in the future.
The biggest miss in our first edition of these rankings, Lowe goes from unranked to top 4 and the 4 spot could be too low for her. Sayler does just about everything for the Lady Lakers and leads them in almost every statistical category. Lowe is a big guard who can score the ball all over the court and is going to end up with a lot of D1 offers in the near future.
Highlights
Keziah is off to a slow start this season but she’s working towards finding a role at a new school after enrolling at Mercy. After averaging 20 points per game last season at Fern Creek, it’s clear that Renee has the skills and abilities to make a difference for Mercy. Look for her to get more comfortable as the year goes along and get back to her old ways of scoring at a high level.
