Team Spotlight, East River

In this edition of Team Spotlight, we will be featuring the East River Falcons. East River is of Colonial drive on the far east side of Orange County. East River is a District final runner-up from last year, and looking to return with new head coach Britany Scott. Scott, is former D-1 Coach at FIU and Head Coach at Northeast in Fort Lauderdale prior to FIU. So far on the season they are sitting at 5-6, having played Jones and Winter Park. They have some tough upcoming late season match ups versus rival Timber Creek and Central Florida Christian Academy. Here is some of the players for the Falcons that will impact the team.   Keilani Serrano 5'7" SG 2024   This kid has tons of energy and plays with a passion for the game. She attacks the basket with a ferocious intensity. Serrano crashes the boards, getting many offensive rebounds and tips out to her teammates. She can knock down the outside jumper. Her stats show she is ripping down 7.7 rebounds per game. Perez controls the offense for the team, setting up plays and getting things going. She has been a 3 year starter at the varsity level. The multiple sport athlete is very athletic, quick and plays with a high IQ. She is dishing out 4.5 assists per game.   [player_tooltip player_id='149865' first='Madyson' last='Burney'] 5'9" SG 2023   The Virginia transfer is getting a ton of looks and interest from colleges throughout the country. She plays very smooth, not wasting much motion or energy. Burney shoots a highly confident shot that she knocks down consistently. She is averaging 19 points per game, hitting 39 percent from the field. Good luck to her on her senior campaign at ERHS.   Victoria Tolbert 5'6" PF 2023   The Senior is a defensive nightmare. A strong player that is athletic. She is leading the team with 11 blocks, and snatching 7 boards per game. The long forward has a nose to the ball, getting on the floor and reading the defense, to be in the best position. She makes very nice passes to her teammates. The freshman can hit the outside jump shot, including the outside three ball. Look forward to watching her throughout the season, as she continues to grow at the varsity level.   Hallie Afoon 5'3' SG 2025   The sophomore from East Orlando is having a good season. She is in her second year on varsity. She is an aggressive player that plays tough defense. Afoon is grabbing 2 rebounds per game, along with chipping in 2.3 points per game.
