That said, today, I’d like to highlight some of the best shooters in Iowa this season and talk about what they’ve been able to do on the floor.
Jada Piercy
The Spencer senior is currently making the most 3-pointers per game and is the only player making at least five per game. Not only is Piercy making 3-pointers in volume, but she’s also made nearly half of her 10.8 attempts per game. Piercy is shooting 46% from behind the arc, putting her in an elite class of shooters in her senior campaign. Her shooting splits of 44/46/75 are one of the best in the state.
Payton Bush
The Mediapolis guard is the only other player in Piercy’s stratosphere early this year. Bush is converting on 49% of her 3-point attempts and is making 4.7 of her 9.6 attempts from behind the 3-point line. Bush’s ability to make shots efficiently with volume is one of the most impressive statistical feats in the young season. The senior has put together an elite start to the season, shooting the ball, and it’ll be fun to follow as the season unfolds.
Avery DeHaan Avery DeHaan 5'9" | CG Storm Lake | 2026 State IA
The freshman from Storm Lake is one of the most intriguing 26s to start this season. I’m not sure how she projects to the next level yet, but I know she’s improved her team from last season. The Tornadoes matched their win total from last season, and a portion of that is down to DeHaan. She’s been one of the best shooters in Iowa. She has splits of 51/48/65, and she may not have shot free throws as well as you’d want, but everything else she’s doing has been excellent. DeHaan’s ability to help her team win games hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Addison Klosterbeuer
There may not be a more feared shooter in Iowa. When Klosterbuer gets going from the perimeter, good luck forcing a miss, it’s all on lady luck at that point. The South Dakota commit is shooting 42.6% from behind the 3-point line in her senior season and has a 62.5% effective field goal percentage, which is nothing to scoff at this year. I love her ability to get her shots up quickly and make contested shots. It’s easy to see the thousands of jumpers she’s put up alone in gyms over the years through her confidence.
