Here are some players who stood out during the contest:
Boatman is a smooth operator. She’s one of those players that make the game look much easier than it is. She shows great form on her shot, which she can deliver from all three levels. She’s strong going to the rim allowing her to finish through contact. She’s quick and long, which helps her on defense. Colorado Christian University is getting a really good player who should thrive at the next level.
Tuttle plays with great confidence for a sophomore. She runs at point guard a lot but can also stress defenses when she’s off the ball. She’s strong and skilled for her age. I like her handle and willingness to mix it up inside. The future is bright for this one.
Schaffer is a very smart player who maximizes her abilities. She plays fast and boasts a solid feel for the game. She’s quick, handles the ball well and sees the whole floor. She’s scrappy on defense and moves well laterally.
McCool is strong but also skilled. She’s a presence in the paint, runs the floor well and does a nice job hitting the glass. She sets solid screens and understands how to roll off of them.
The sophomore big owns a high ceiling and is already effective as a sophomore. She’s agile and athletic at 6-2, which aids her at both ends of the court. She protects the paint with her long arms and lateral movement. She shows a soft touch around the rim with an ability to shoot with both hands.
Levin put the Spartans on her back when they built a 26-25 halftime lead. She scored 15 before the break on a variety of penetration moves and long-range shots. The Iowa commit impresses every time I see her. She combines a wonderfully well-rounded game with an aggressive approach.
Highlights
Miller makes sure opponents don’t spend too much time focused on Levin. She’s solid at getting all the way to the basket if defenders push out on her at the arc, where she will bury the trey if left open. She handles the ball well, passes proficiently and holds up well on defense.
