She was able to get to the basket and finish well around the rim – she has a soft touch and a nice jumper. Yokley is a harder player to guard as she is one of the taller players on the court and she is able to shoot from a variety of spots. Makenna runs the floor well and get to where she wants – always ready to shoot or get good positioning down low. Defensively, she moves well inside and does not allow the cutters and posts to move freely. Makenna showcased her abilities both offensively and defensively as she was one of the top scorers for Owasso and made a number of stops at the rim.
Jayelle Austin 2025 – Owasso: Jayelle is a force inside. She was grabbing rebounds and loose balls all game. Austin positions herself well and pushes her opponents out of the paint – this fundamental skill allows her to secure a number of tough rebounds. Jayelle is not in a hurry to get rid of the ball once she grabs the rebound – she is poised and does not get flustered under pressure. Austin finds her outlets well and once her guards are in possession of the ball, she sprints down the floor – ready to work on offense. Jayelle dominates the boards but she can score, too – she was able to put a number of points on the board off of quick put backs and fast breaks.
Kaylee Johansen 2025 – Skiatook: Kaylee is a shooter. She is able to shoot from deep as well as finish at the rim. Johansen is aggressive and does not back down from contact or pressure. She finds the open gaps in the defense and is able to shoot when the defense is slacking but knows when to attack the basket when the defense is playing too close. Kaylee rebounds well and plays solid defense. She is a solid ball player but the aspect of her game that stood out the most is her communication; Kaylee was constantly talking to her teammates on both sides of the floor. Defensively, she let her teammates know where she was and where she was going. Offensively, she directed traffic and let her teammates know where they needed to be.
Ella Phillips 2025 – Cascia Hall: Ella did a little bit of everything for the Lady Commandos in the opening round of the Skiatook Tournament. Ella was able to get to the basket on a number of occasions and compiled most of her points by backing her opponents deep into the paint and finishing with a quick turn around. Phillips rebounds well and is strong with the ball once she does secure it — Defensively, Ella uses her length and is able to cover a lot of ground – making it difficult for her opponents to get to the basket. Ella finished the game with 13 points and a handful of rebounds.
