Erin Grant (Mansfield) Texas Tech, led her team to 4 (FOUR) State Championships at the highest classification and played in the FIRST girls McDonald's All-American game in 2002, yes that was the inaugural game, if you'd otherwise, you have been misled. She also played in the WNBA and is currently an assistant coach with the University of Arizona

Why am I talking about a player that graduated over 2 decades, over a score, over 20 years ago, well because #ThereIsNoMe and my mind works differently than mere mortals in girl's basketball, and the sad part is USEFUL information is not given by many, yet also not wanted by many in this era of nonsense and make-believe.

Desoto is heading to state and they have 4 freshmen who have played a huge part in their success so guess what, that puts them in a position to do the same thing Grant did, win 4 state championships at the HIGHEST CLASSIFICATION

DESOTO

[player_tooltip player_id='206957' first='Ma'Riya' last='Vincent'] -6'0 SG [2024]

Vincent has been THE GLUE every time I caught them and the transfer from Houston has played a huge part in their success. Her scoring both off the dribble as well as from outside has been key, yet her rebounding, on both ends and ability to play multiple positions needs to be mentioned

[player_tooltip player_id='510464' first='Amari' last='Byles']-6'2 SF [2026]

Byles' interior domination has gone to another level as she's scoring with ease around the basket and showing nice moves yet her putbacks after contact are just something to see. Solid defense in the paint and she rebounds on both ends

[player_tooltip player_id='510471' first='Amayah' last='Garcia']-5'11 SG [2026]

Garcia brought SUNSHINE to open up the game as I TWEETED her being on fire. She created her shot under pressure nicely and that midrange helped get them going yet what I also love is her progression from the first time I caught them until now

[player_tooltip player_id='510465' first='Kamora' last='Pruitt']-6'2 SG [2026]

Pruitt is long and athletic and for those who don't pay attention, that is the base. Her pull-up jumper is more than solid because she elevates over the defender, well she does off the dribble as well but her timing to block shots also stood out

[player_tooltip player_id='510466' first='Rieyan' last='Desouze']-5'6 PG [2026]

Desouze was a 3rd grader when I dropped the #D1Lock on her, everything I say is documented because I just know yet I also know she has progressed as well from the start of the season and her handling the ball under pressure as well as seeing the floor is showing why the game starts at the 1

CEDAR HILL

[player_tooltip player_id='204178' first='Jadyn' last='Atchison']-6'1 SG [2023]

Atchison is taking that pull-up jumper on the road to the University Of Colorado and one thing I have always enjoyed about her game is that she finds ways to put the ball in the basket, same in the regional finals as she helped get her team going

[player_tooltip player_id='587557' first='Kelis' last='Grant']-5'8 G [2023]

Grant will be heading to Sam Houston yet she has GRANTED me several opportunities to see her go completely off over the years. The pull-up jumper in transition, the scoring off the dribble, as well as her court vision, will translate over to the next level

Jazmine Carraway-5'9 G [2023] and Cailan Hale-5'8 [2023]

Carraway and Hale have teamed with [player_tooltip player_id='206963' first='Taylor' last='Craver'] to form one of the best trios of defenders in the Texas class of 2023. On the ball is smothering, even I have started to sweat watching them come from nowhere to play the passing lane

[player_tooltip player_id='587556' first='Micah' last='Vaughn']-6'1 PF [2023]

Vaughn is heading to Seward and she has consistently been one of the most improved players in the state each season, she scores around the basket, with either hand and drops the jumper and I'll be watching [player_tooltip player_id='514426' first='Brooklyn' last='King'] keep that going

[player_tooltip player_id='206963' first='Taylor' last='Craver'] and [player_tooltip player_id='514426' first='Brooklyn' last='King'] are two of their key returners for next season
