District Tournament Preview-Key Players Pt.2

The new all-time leading scorer in the 5th district [player_tooltip player_id='200350' first='Taylor' last='Guess'] is on a quest to win and make history along the way. Crittenden County is having a very successful season posting a record of 21-5 on the season including 7-0 in district games. Guess is scoring 23.3 points and grabbing 9.3 boards per game leading the team in both categories. She is a true competitor that gives max effort and shows the will to win every time she steps on the court. With her senior leadership and her team playing as well as they are the Lady Rockets look prepared to take-off and win the 5th district once again. As a junior she has cemented herself as one of the best girls basketball players to ever come out of Carlisle County. Whitaker is now the all-time leading scorer in school history with 1600+ points, breaking the former record of 1,601 set back in 1996 by Miranda McNeal. Whitaker plays primarily at the point guard position where she displays good size, speed, athleticism, and skill. She is also a consistent shooter from the perimeter and likes to push the pace in transition for layups. Whitaker is putting up 17 points a game leading the team in scoring. Just last week she put up a career-high 33 points going 5/7 from three in a win over Franklins-Simpson. Varney has shown that she is a deadly long range shooter that can also take defenders off the dribble with her quick first-step. Barren County has a record of 23-6 and she is averaging 17 points a game for them this season. The 6'3 center Chloe Mcknight has made vast improvements to her game this season and showed she can be a lot to handle in the low post. She has nice footwork for her size and soft hands making her easy to feed down low with her ability to score at the rim. Mckight is averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds per game while making her presence known on the defensive end by blocking shots. The sophomore shooting guard Laken Shroader looks to be the difference maker and help the Lady Mashals repeat as district champs this year. Shroader shoots it well from behind the arc and has showed that she can be a solid defender also. She's getting 10 points along with 4 rebounds a game I think she will step her game up a notch when the tournament starts as they look to go back to back. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
