I have been able to attend a couple of games over the past two weeks and saw some great competition. Teams are battling it out for a chance at a conference title and a good seeding in the district tournament. Keep reading below for players that I saw and were some top performers.

[player_tooltip player_id='459085' first='Makensie' last='Moore'] | Guard | Baptist Prep | 2026

Makensie is one of the best players in the state in the class of 2026. She is a combo guard that can excel at either guard position. I was able to see her Baptist Prep team take on Atkins and she showed me her growth in her game as well her potential. She knocked down several catch and shoot jumpers with her quick release as well as attacked off the dribble to finish in the lane over multiple defenders. As she continues to develop she will be a name everyone across the state will know.

[player_tooltip player_id='465498' first='Kadee' last='Keaster'] | Point Guard | Atkins | 2025

Kadee is slowly making a name for herself. When you talk about some of the best point guards in the state in the class of 2025 you have to mention Kadee. She manages the game well, gets her teammates involved, see the floor well, can get in the lane off the dribble, and make the mid-range jumper. One thing I did notice that Kadee did really well vs Baptist Prep was her ability to push the ball in transition. Once she receives the outlet her eyes immediately up the floor looking to pitch ahead. When you combine her IQ and her skills you have a solid point guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='307197' first='AbbiGrace' last='Cunningham'] | Forward | Atkins | 2024

At the beginning of the year I felt AbbiGrace had the skill level to be one of the top players in the state and with a really good individual season she could be in the discussion for player of the year. I was able to see her compete against Baptist Prep and those skills she possess were on full display. She showed her versatility to play both inside and out, she made mid-range jumpers, handled the ball, ran the floor well, scored off post ups, and showed she could finish with either hand. Her skill and talent drew so much attention she often had several defenders convert on her when she attacked. She definitely one of the most skilled forwards in the state and a top player in her class.

[player_tooltip player_id='306107' first='Jianna' last='Morris'] | Guard | Sylvan Hills | 2023

Jianna is a walking bucket. She put up 29pts against Little Rock Christian Academy (LRCA) while going 11-14 from the free throw line and connecting on 3 three-pointers. LRCA did a really good job of forcing Jianna to take some tough shots, but when you have her skill and shooting ability, you can make those shots with ease. She hit 2 dribble pull-ups in the mid-range going left over defenders, pull threes, catch and shoot threes, and she finished in the lane through contact for the and 1. She definitely a talented player that should do some great things at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='442405' first='Kate' last='Denton'] | Wing | LRCA | 2023

Every team needs a player like Kate. Kate is someone who can spread the floor and knock down open threes in the half-court or in transition. Kate made 3 three-pointers with two back to back threes in the fourth quarter to give her team some breathing room and keep Sylvan Hills off their back. Her three-point shooting creates gaps for her teammates to attack and either finish or make plays for her and others.

[player_tooltip player_id='442424' first='Mia' last='Smith'] | PG | LRCA | 2023

I love seeing good point guard play. Give me a point guard that can defend the opposing team's point guard, make plays, and score the ball. This describes Mia as a PG for LRCA. She did a really good job vs Sylvan Hills of running the team and managing the game. Mia knew when to push it, when to slow it down, and kept the offense running well in the half-court. She made some really nice passes in transition and in the half-court. Her vision is on point and then having the ability to deliver the pass on-time and on-target will get your juices going. She also was able to get in the lane off the dribble and finish with her change of speed. Mia is definitely one of the best point guards in the state in the class of 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='881468' first='Whitley' last='Rogers'] | Wing | LRCA | 2026

Could [player_tooltip player_id='881468' first='Whitley' last='Rogers'] be the best player in the state in the class of 2026? She definitely has an argument. With her size, she's around 5'10 or so, and skill she can play and defend multiple positions. It could be the mid-post, high post, wing, or even the point guard position. She attacked off the dribble and connected on some tough mid-range jumpers over the top of her defender. Whitley was able to get in the lane off the dribble and finish through contact, she made the three ball, ran the floor well, finished with both hands, plays through contact, and she brings energy and effort on both ends of the floor.
