Tuesday’s Best Regional Matchups

Here's a look at the top regional openers on Monday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2nd Region: Henderson County vs Madisonville-North Hopkins (at Union County) - Henderson is the likely favorite in the second region but Madisonville is capable of knocking them off if they don't play well. [player_tooltip player_id='284106' first='Jarie' last='Thomas'] and [player_tooltip player_id='372711' first='Graci' last='Risley'] are two of the best in the second region but the Lady Maroons have 5 players averaging 8 points per game or better. [player_tooltip player_id='200348' first='Amari' last='Lovan'] and Destiny Whitsell are a tough duo in their own right. This should be a good game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>3rd Region: Breckinridge County vs Edmonson County (at Owensboro Sportscenter) - If you're a believer in the KHSAA RPI, this is a matchup between the number 3 team in the third and the 5th ranked squad. Breck's duo of Caroline Lucas and [player_tooltip player_id='364233' first='Kayleigh' last='Huffines'] is very tough but Edmonson plays hard nosed team defense. If they can force the Tigers to have an off scoring night, they're capable of pulling an upset.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>12th Region: Southwestern vs Somerset (at Pulaski County) - Southwestern is always a factor in the 12th region title race and 2023 is no different. Ayden Smiddy, [player_tooltip player_id='403467' first='Kinsley' last='Molden'] and [player_tooltip player_id='304630' first='Payton' last='Acey'] are a three headed monster on the offensive end and any of the three is capable of scoring 20-25 points tonight. For Somerset, don't sleep on Grace Bruner and Kate Bruner while Jaelyn Dye is the X factor in a potential upset bid this evening.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>12th Region: Mercer County vs Danville Christian (at Pulaski County) - Probably the best game on the schedule in Kentucky tonight, [player_tooltip player_id='164412' first='Anna' last='Kate Drakeford'] and [player_tooltip player_id='376806' first='Teigh' last='Yeast'] will try to get the Titans defense to slow down [player_tooltip player_id='403464' first='Grace' last='Mbugua'] (and that's a tall task). Grace and fellow Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='304633' first='Alexia' last='Baldock'] are going to be tough to stop but the Titans have a winning pedigree and a good coach.
