Delanie Hill has been on an absolute tear for 1 of 1. She handles the ball well pushing the tempo when needed and settling her team down if they need to run an offensive set. Her ability to knock down shots from anywhere is an asset for sure as she knows how to get open with her handles, or she can shoot off the pass. Her awareness and vision on the court shows how much she understands the game as she facilitates plays and directs her teammates where to go in order to get some points.
Maya McCorkle continues to show off her versatility on both ends of the court. She can handle the ball well on offense finding ways to run plays and get the ball to her teammates. She doesn’t hesitate getting inside, too, posting up on the block to get some points for her team. This translates well to the other end as she can guard a range of players protecting the basket, deflecting passes, and pushing steals up to the other end fo the court. She can certainly step outside and knock down her shot from deep, too.
Tyler Collins was a big reason Northside Christian won the state championship this season. She was setting the nets on fire knocking down her shot from around the perimeter, and she sees open lanes for her to attack the basket weaving around her defenders. She whips passes into her teammates cutting to the basket making sure they can get their own points. On defense, she is known to strip the ball from any guard trying to get by her, and these steals are certain to turn into transition points for her team.
Olivia Fava contributes on all areas of the court every time she gets the chance to play. She controls the tempo for the Cougars well knowing how to execute plays to get some points. She attacks the basket finishing on both sides, especially after she grabs steals stripping the ball from her opponents. Her ability to make plays with the ball always came at the perfect times like in the Western Regional Championship as she was the life behind the run the Cougars needed in the second half scoring on back to back plays with some turnover points.
Reese Fritz makes sure everyone in the gym knows her ability to shoot the ball even if they didn’t already. She slides into openings around the perimeter and is ready for the pass and bucket, and she is sure of her shot quickly releasing it making sure no one has the chance to block it. She finds her open teammates underneath the basket, or she can drive and pull up for some midrange jumpers to score some points. She has great length on defense being able to move laterally to block the path of guards trying to get by her.
