Carolina Girls Hoops Report hosted the two-day CGHR March Madness event at the Pearl Moore Basketball Center in Florence. A number of AAU teams were on hand from both Carolinas and there were teams on hand from a variety of classes from 2024s to 2030s.
We at Prep Girls Hoops made the trip out for the Sunday slate of contests. Here is who caught our attention among the eighth and seventh graders.
In H2Lowco 2027’s hard-fought victory to start the Sunday slate of matchups at Pearl Moore Basketball Center, Brown willed her team to the win column. She finished with 18 points in the 48-44 triumph over Confidence Cougars 2027. The forecast called for rain in Florence, and it was difficult for Confidence Cougars 2027 to weather the storm of plays Brown made. She is a skilled rim attacker who is not afraid to attempt tough shots. She finds her way around defenses and is willing to absorb contact to get to the free throw line. Fans of 4A Bluffton should be very excited to watch what is ahead for this rising star. Brown shines as a defender as well.
Coach Destany Eagles’ Confidence Cougars’ 2027 team had a formidable 3-point shooting threat in the form of Blackmon who finished with 19 points in what was a competitive matchup against H2Lowco 2027. Out of those 19 she placed on the scoreboard were the five 3-pointers she drained for the game. Her skillset goes beyond simply what she can get accomplished from long range. It also includes her ability to get to the free throw line on the heels of absorbing contact. Blackmon has the distinction of being listed on the rosters for Confidence Cougars 2026 and 2027 teams – meaning she plays up in class when with the 2026 rendition.
Ava Smith

She also had herself a noteworthy performance in the opening game of Sunday’s schedule at the Pearl Moore Basketball Center. She finished with 11 points in her team’s contest with H2Lowco 2027. It may not have been the result she was looking for, but she can be proud of her performance. Smith finished with 11 points and managed to find the rim in a variety of ways. Along with a successful 3-point attempt, She also managed to draw contact and get to the free throw line. The standout, who just concluded her eighth grade season, was also effective from the charity stripe having made four of her free throw attempts that game. Smith currently plays during the academic season at Forestbrook Middle School in Myrtle Beach.
Dareka Goodman
Dareka Goodman
Goodman was tied for the team lead in points as she also finished with six of them in her team’s matchup with Confidence Cougars 2026. It was a contest that was more offensive-minded in the second quarter than the first which saw both teams finish with 11 points each after the first half. Goodman has more of the build of a traditional four or five but can play with the skillset of a one or two. She is not afraid to take long range shots – either in the midrange or long range games. Goodman also can impose her will in the interior and displays her toughness as she is willing to fall to the floor to complete a play.
Imani Levey
Imani Levey
Levey is more than poised to assume her role as the big of the future for Berkeley. In Palmetto Stampede 2026’s matchup late Saturday against Carolina Rattlers 2025, Levey’s played more like the veterans. Levey finished with eight points as another force in the frontcourt for Palmetto Stampede 2026. As someone who can log productive minutes as either a four or a five, she excels as a rebounder as well. Scoring on her is also difficult given how gifted a shot blocker Levey is. Levey has one high school varsity season in the books and she is just getting started.
Shanel Sutton
Shanel Sutton
Coach Robert Benson’s H2Lowco AAU program has the benefit of attracting talent from both the Palmetto and Peach States. Sutton is one of the rising talents that is surely to draw the attention of basketball aficionados throughout Georgia. She is playing up in class and displayed exactly why in her team’s 48-44 victory over Confidence Cougars 2027 as she tallied 13 points in what was a hard-fought win. Along with being a serviceable scorer from the field, her game is complimented by what she gets accomplished at the line. With plenty of development on the horizon in the coming years, Sutton is what upside resembles.
