She took her Patriots under her wing and willed them back into the game. Maybe, it wasn’t always pretty, but it got the job done. She put her team on her shoulders and kept them in the game. When no one else could score, Woods made sure her the Mohigans didn’t get too far ahead of her Patriots. She jump started the offense with 2 minutes left in the first period, and never looked back. She blocked. She assisted. She cheered. She led.
Alexis Bordas Alexis Bordas 5'8" | SG Wheeling Park | 2025 State WV , Wheeling Park, SG, 5-8, So. – LaLa Woods started the charge, then Bordas did her best to finish it. When Park needed her at her best, she was at her best. When the stakes were highest, she soared. In a furious flurry of drives to the basket and jump shots, Bordas refused to be denied. If Park was going to be denied, they were going to be denied with their best player playing at her best. She went about keeping the Morgantown defense off kilter with a second half performance of 21 points, on 9 of 12 shooting, to go along with three steals.
Sofia Wassick Sofia Wassick 5'7" | PG Morgantown | 2024 State WV , Morgantown, PG, 5-8, Jr. – There’s just something about the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center that ignites Sofia Wassick Sofia Wassick 5'7" | PG Morgantown | 2024 State WV . Perhaps, its the wide court. Perhaps, its the bigger passing lanes. Perhaps, its her comfort of having been here three straight years. Whatever it is, there is one undeniable fact. She really likes playing in the building. Possibly more so than any other building in the state. You sure could see it in her latest visit. She tallied 14 points, 7 of 16 from the field, grabbed a rare 8 boards, with an even more unusual 1 assist to go along with a pair of steals.
Lily Jordan Lily Jordan 6'0" | PF Morgantown | 2024 State WV , Morgantown, F, 6-0, Jr. – Lily Jordan Lily Jordan 6'0" | PF Morgantown | 2024 State WV was on a mission. Matter of fact. Having already faced the crushing defeat in the title game a year ago, she wasn’t about to go through that pain, again. It didn’t really matter what she had do to make that happen, either. Tough points in the paint? Sure. Jumpers in the lane? Why not. Responding and resetting after Wheeling Park punched back every … single …. time. Done. There was nothing out of her scope of ability. Anything and everything sat on the table.
Kate Hawkins, Morgantown, W, 5-7, Sr. – In the final game of her high-school career, Kate Hawkins showed just how much of a cool customer she really was. Tasked with hitting late free throws, she never batted an eye. She went through her usual charity stripe routine, and then drained four huge shots in the final three minutes of a game that no once could create any separation in. Overall, she went 6 of 6 from the line for 12 points in a game Morgantown needed someone not named Lily Jordan Lily Jordan 6'0" | PF Morgantown | 2024 State WV or Sofia Wassick Sofia Wassick 5'7" | PG Morgantown | 2024 State WV to step up in.
