Osbourn Park 23-4 VS. Manchester HS 20-5
First round match up? It seems like on paper like a state finals matchup! No doubt two heavy weights in class 6A will square off in the first round! Across the board Osbourn Park has a deep squad led by POY Alana Powell Alana Powell 5'8" | CG Osbourn Park | 2023 State VA . But I think the key player for them in this upcoming game will be Alexandria Brown Alexandria Brown 6'2" | PF Osborne Park | 2025 State VA , she will have to step up and contain a power five talent! That power talent is Mia Woolfork who is a dominant low post presence and can take over a game from the low block! Just like their opponent Manchester is deep with young talent, but Rayne Wright Rayne Wright 5'11" | CG Manchester | 2025 State VA and Leah Hampton Leah Hampton 5'5" | PG Manchester | 2024 State VA solidify a legitimate big three that can make a run all the way to the state championship!
Menchville HS 23-1
A team looking to repeat as state champions. Head coach, Adrian Webb will have a really good shot with returning player of the year in the class 5 and Morgan State commit Amari Smith Amari Smith 5'11" | SF Menchville High | 2023 State VA who has led her team with a 23-1 record this season! With Atiana Williams and Kiara Beal Kiara Beal 5'8" | CG Menchville | 2023 State VA who were also first team Peninsula District this combination will have to be the catalyst for a back-2-back run!
Norview 22-4
Making a run at the end of the season is where we expected this team to be, young but have solid talent. Diamond Wiggins Diamond Wiggins 5'10" | SF Norview | 2023 State VA who is committed to Monmouth University in a playoff atmosphere is a type player that can get hot with her inside and outside game from the wing that can make a deep run! Leyla Minor Leyla Minor 5'11" | SG Norview HS | 2025 State VA needs to be a big time presence on the wing for her team to have a shot as well. A very skilled player whose role will have to change to that second or even first go to player in any of the playoff games!
Massaponax 22-4 VS Glen Allen 22-2
Another intriguing matchup of two twenty win teams, Massaponax is led by region player of the year Takeira Ramey Takeira Ramey 5'6" | PG Massaponax | 2024 State VA who has played at a high level and is a do it all point guard and this team will go as far as her play takes them! Glen Allen has a team built for a state run! All state shooting guard Cierra McGinlay Cierra McGinlay 5'7" | CG Glen Allen | 2023 State VA , all region performer Lindsey Shoulders Lindsey Shoulders 5'9" | SF Glen Allen | 2025 State VA and Ava Johnson Ava Johnson 6'2" | PF Steward School | 2025 State VA 6-3 who can score from three or the low block. Great first round matchup but whoever wins the points in the paint battle may walk away with this game!
LC Bird HS 21-4 VS William Fleming HS 23-6
Getting hot at the right time LC Bird has won 5 games in a row and comes in with a 21-4 record on the season with two of their losses by 1 point. This is a veteran guard heavy team that can play a different style of basketball that can be a match up nightmare for any team! Kyah Smith Kyah Smith 5'8" | CG LC Bird HS | 2023 State VA the Naval commit looks to lead this team on a run to the state title! Arguably the most athletic team in this region William Fleming is for-real! An this young team has gain a lot of experience with the 30th game of the season on deck versus Bird! Amari Worsham Amari Worsham 5'9" | SG William Fleming HS | 2026 State VA a top 15 player in the state of Virginia in the 2026 class and is a difference maker on both ends of the court! William Fleming path can go deep if they consistently hit the three point shot as they are averaging 18 plus attempts a game.
