I can go back and look at pictures and certain things players did pop back into my head. It’s a gift, and so is this article as I drop players on the verge of breaking out in a big way, I started to title it Simmie’s Standouts Part 3, which would have worked since I’m the 3rd but …
Tamaria Cummings
Tamaria Cummings
Cummings is on the verge of going places, did you catch that, and her being “long and athletic” which is still the base gives her a great foundation to build on. She plays the passing lane and can handle the ball in the open court afterward but she also plays defense, on the ball as well as inside the paint. She also rebounds, on both ends and scored on putbacks as well as off the dribble
Heaven Britton
Heaven Britton
Britton is an athletic guard that’s long, that works too, especially when you see her apply baseline to baseline pressure. The intensity she bring on the defensive end helped create turnovers, she uses her hands well, came away with steals but she also moves her feet in the set and beats the offensive player to the spot to make them pick up their dribble. She attacks and finishes strongly and saw the floor
Harris is an athletic guard that brings heat on the defensive end. Her pressure was smothering at times, she reads the court and plays the passing lane but she also understands several things that are very important like forcing the offensive player to pick up their dribble as well as well how to trap. She also dove for loose balls and did a good job attacking the basket from multiple angles
Maddie Moran
Maddie Moran
Moran stands at “the magic number” which is 6’0 and falls into a category I also love to profile and that’s “big guards that can shoot” but importantly, college coaches also love this profile and they give next level opportunities. She showed me she could drop it from deep last season but her ability to “catch and shoot” has gotten better, so is her creating her shot to drop the midrange or attack the basket

Blount has me making a BLUNT statement, her upside is scary. She’s a long and athletic guard with an explosive first step and watching her body control to finish, after contact, tells me a lot. She also understands how to create her shot under pressure for the midrange jumper, she defends in both the half and full court and she plays the passing lane. To add even more, she also rebounds
Tatum Stone
Tatum Stone
Stone is, you guessed it, long and athletic and her timing to block shots as well as play the passing lane immediately caught my attention. Her wingspan also was a problem as she’s constantly moving and altered as well as deflected shots but she has a deceptive first step to attack the basket and finish after the lick. She also elevates on her jumper, the midrange looked really good and since she’s at “the magic number” and can shoot the ball, one more time “college coaches lover that”
Holmes gave me a glimpse of what was coming last season and with both eyes open, to say her “ceiling has no roof” is an understatement. She stands over “the magic number” and she’s “long and athletic” and that alone will have college coaches galore coming. I love her timing on defense, she gives the offensive player something to think about and her rebounding on both ends was equally impressive. She also defends inside the paint and scored around the basket
Gilbert has the college frame and is showing “power in the paint” on both ends. She rebounds and runs the floor, again, on both ends and she showed she could not only finish strongly around the basket but she gave me that “hands and footwork” I love to see because it takes me back to another era. Her defense was also solid, she has nice lateral movement and she goes after loose balls
