She played for the Tree of Hope Pacific ‘ last=”]’ last=”]’ last=”] 16U champions. She was impressive on the glass, with rebound after rebound. She is long and athletic. She plays hard and was a difference maker in the championship game, which was a close one to the end. She came up with some big rebounds in the final couple of minutes to help her team to the championship of the division 2 level. She scored some baskets in the paint, and was aggressive getting to me hoop. She can handle the ball well enough to get herself out of trouble and clear it to the guards. High ceiling player with a ton of potential.

Madison Holtz
One of the leading scorers and primary ball handlers for the U16 champions. She got baskets driving to the hoop, and from the line. She is a decent shooter, and good one from the free throw line. She got quite a few points from the charity stripe from attacking the basket and being aggressive. I don’t think she missed any of those free throws, and there were quite a few. One of the leaders on the team and a floor general who can score when she needs to. She had double figures before the half and a good bit of them came from getting fouled on the way to the basket.
Karsyn is no stranger to getting buckets. She averaged 23 points in her sophomore season at Raymond this past year. She was no stranger to buckets in the tournament either. She has great speed in the open floor and gets it and goes. She has a great mid-range game to go with it, and uses it on the break as a stop and pop. She is solid all around with the ball in her hands. She is more of a scoring guard but can play the point just as well. She is also unselfish and willing to make the extra pass, which I saw her do to a wide open teammate for a three when she could have taken it. That extra pass turned into 3 points from the next player I will talk about.
She is a skilled guard who can score it from all levels. She had 4 threes in the game I watched. She has ability to create off the dribble. She handles the ball like a point guard and scores it like a two guard. She is quick and can get to the basket off the dribble and added a nice mid-range pull up jumper from 15 feet. Her ball skills are good, and she has the potential to be a player of the year candidate playing in the Central 2B league next season. She was a 1st team pick this past year. The combination of her and Freeman were too much for the other team and they won big. Both scored well, and both are best when they are in space.
If you looked at the score sheet, it wouldn’t have had much ink next to her name. That’s not why I am talking about her. She is an athlete. She does everything with a smoothness and you can see that she is talented without scoring a point. She is capable of scoring, don’t get me wrong. She did hit a three or two, and has a nice touch from three and mid-range. I was more impressed with her overall athletic ability and fundamentals to go with it. It was her athleticism that stands out on the floor in most any aspect of the game. She can be a great defender, rebounds, handles the ball, and shoots. I guess you would call that a four tool player in hoops. Another with a high ceiling. This team has several, Brynn Beckman is Askey’s teammate during the high school season and has that same athletic, fundamentally sound style of play.
Dominant in the paint with her size and length. She is 6’4 and long. She is developing as a more skilled player in the post. I saw a nice turn around jumper from 15 feet from her. I don’t think I saw her miss any shots. She gets it in the paint and it’s usually a bucket. She was a problem last season with W.F. West for most teams. She scored over 30 a few times and averaged well above a double double. She is only going to be a junior, and it appears that she has the potential to get a lot better. That will be a real problem for anyone trying to defend her in the coming years. Each of the last four players I listed played for Hoop Dreams Family.
